I'm looking at a trde for this cat...the one i'm looking at has an area on the transome that protrudes out off the transome about 2 inches that the strut mounts to...on all the other sw cats I see on here have a flat transome...what gives?....older version?

I was told that it was a SK cat, however, I may have misunderstood. The hull is the exact same except for the standoff.

Yes, they are very similar. The Skunkworks doesn't have the stand-off. It also has nuts to hold down the hatch.

Scotty may confirm but I think there are several versions, one has the stand-off and the corner of the transom are rounded, a second one has the same rounded corner transom with no stand-off see here (http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?t=6404) or here (http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?t=3245)
I've seen a third one that also has a flat transom, square corners and different hatch, but this is a completely different hull though!

In general shouldn't the standoff make the boat handle better?

the stand-off moves the rudder further in the back but if you use a rudder that has the long bracket it does the same, the further it is the better is the handling!

Hello out there.

Bust sent me over the link. This hull design has been around for about 4 years now. You will see it on ebay from a China company who swiped my very first video I put on RCFlix. The boat was my first build on this hull, testing it out on the video.

The hulls I had made were done in Thailand. I am not a fan of the standoff with this boat. Makes it a royal pain to mount hardware and there is no real room to add backing support for the rudder.....you know what I mean. I have 3 left in the shop that have been around for awhile with the flat transom and the nuts on the hatch.

Just like all other products out there in the world, they are copied over and over and over again. True with everything.

What I would like is to take the basic design and make some updates. Cannot find a cost effective solution for production "yet"

All in good time I guess....just need to find some more time
