well i took the boat out to day and ya it's gay it's a big fat slow turd any one have any idea why it would be so slow i think its slower than stock waist of time :ThumbsDown01: it's kind of funny thought it's like driving a school bus slow and slugish and it doesnt turn very well so now every one knows duel 970's in a villain suck wang !:ThumbsDown01:

I could have told you that wouldn't be a good idea...

A single one on more cells would have been a better choice, along with "real" hardware and a bigger prop.

But by then you're just wasting money. Go with a DF 26 or a knockoff.

i do have upgraded props so i thought it would be better than stock but live and learn i guess is that motor you suggested a brushed or no thanx for the tip

So you went to bigger motors with much more torque. How much bigger of a prop did you use? In order to gain more speed you will need to take advantage of all that new torque. Either much higher pitch props, or changing the gear ratio. Gear ratio will be the cheapest try. I'm not sure what gears are available, but get as close to one to one as you can.

well i have 1to1 gearing and i put in octura 447 brass props and yes its the villain ex it has a stock evx esc and im running two 6 cell batteries i started with the 12cells because im not sure if the evx will handel such big motors and 14 cells
on gearing i can go up to a 40t pinnion and it has a 28t in it now and a 28t spur
thanx for the help this is my first boat and i dont know much about them im a car and truck guy so boats are all new to me

Running a bigger pinion will be a start if possible. That as you know will get your rpms up, by over drive. Since it sounds like the 970's at the current 1 to 1 ratio have less rpm than the stock motors.

well thats what i dont get because the 550's peak rpm is 26,000 and it had 2to1 gearing and the 970's peak rpm is 22,500 and now i have 1to1 gearing so it should be spinning those props at almost 2times the rpm as stock maybe its geared to high

Can you post a picture of the inside? Where did you get the 970's? They should easily be able to spin those props with 1-1 ratio.
