I think this thread will help answer lots of questions people have about the UL-1 such as props, batterys, strut height and so on heres a video of mine.

prop-440/3
4S1P 4800mah
strut-7/8 from the bottom of the strut to the bottem of the hull

Prop - Prather modded 225s
4s1p 4250 mah
strut at 15/16's inches

I haven't gps'ed since 44.2 mph on a M445 at 1" but I think it's faster now.

well i took the boat out for a drive to test out a m445 it was a little windy today on a turn close to shore it wobbled and hit land and a rock on shore so i now ripped out the turn fin agian and i also put a nice hole in it i was little mad when i crashed it but i decieded to throw it back in the water with the hole and no turn fin and it hit 50 and had a blow over 50 now is my fastest speed oh and i lost the turn fin so i need to buy another i did get the blow over on video and will post it soon here are some pics of the damage.

i am running 4000mah 2s 25c pacs a 440 3 blade sharpened and balanced ,15/16
strut depth ,CG is 3 inchs behind the sponsens, it runs good but has bad chin-walk
any advise would be great ,like props strut angle cg, i also noticed the strut bushing is slideing out of the strut , kinda defeats the purpose of balancing the prop.

I got mine out again this weekend and made 4ea 1+mile runs. I raised the strut up some to about 1" from the 1 1/16" she was at (bottom of hull to bottom of strut measured with strut on table) and took as much of the angle out as I could. Using the 40X57/3 prop...she was a little harder to get on plane this time because of the adjustments but I still had no difficulties...floor it to get her out of the water...then when she cavitated...I just let off some and she would hook up ...then I floored it again and we're off to the races. I got her speed back up a few mph to 48.1 and 48.0 on the fastest runs after upgrading the shaft, liner and strut bearing and breaking them in. I'm still not up to the best reading of 49.4 before the upgrades. No chine walking...she was as smooth as a babies butt. I also ran her down to the studder bump for the first time. One of the packs had 13% left in it when I got home. I think I'll move the GPS back aft for the next try with out changing anything else and see if that will help get a few more mph out of her. I still have a small leak so I sealed around the stuffing tube..maybe that is culprit.

No turtle kills this time! :buttrock:

Was that 50mph with or without a turn fin?

I have made several successful runs (5) ranging from 49-51 MPH on the data logger, the turn fin was on. I got about 5 minutes on each run, used a M445 B/S and two 11.1 2600 ma lipos. The boat did not flame out and handled like it was on rails.

Can you post the eagle tree FDR file so I can check it out?

49-51mph on 22.2v ?
Shoudn't that be 14.8v? :confused1:

Two 11.1 Lipos with stock harness equals 22.2 volts. I think I can get another 5mph by removing the turn fin this will require the addition of an air dam and some weight adjustments to keep the front of the boat down. By doing this, the boat handling will be seriously compromised, this type of setup would be for straight line runs only.

Your only getting 49-51mph on 6s ?:glare:

Some are getting that on 4s .

sounds like something is wrong here, going from 4s to 6s is a 50% jump in volts, like a 50% jump in speed!

I tried the X440/3 today and it ran almost 5 mph slower. GPS was 39.4 mph and the lipos ran hot. I had 44.2 with the a detongued X445 and temps were much better. It was fastest with a detongued back cut Prather 225s but I didn't get a GPS reading yet for that prop.
