You ever cross a boat wake doing 70 in a real bass boat? 2, 3 foot chop is no problem but you hit a boat wake on flat water and you better have your life jacket on. It does sound like the UL has a few kinks to get ironed out, expected on a bran new boat. Glad I held off on rushing to get one.

I have had some close calls in my bassboat at 70. A handful.

I think I am putting a hotfoot on it this year and maybe even steering wheel trim.

Those kinds of buoys KILL boats...

What you need to do is take THREE pool noodles, and have some covers made for them from Goretex or similiar cloth... We've been racing with those for two seasons now and out boat damage has almost been non-existant when hitting buoys... More likely that the boat will kill the buoy than the other way around... seriously.

Contact Jim Bickford if you want more info. Maybe he can snap a picture of one so you can see how they are made... They've been a god-send for us...

big empty jugs of milk (no pun intended) are used as well... but the noodles are great.

We've used noodles for buoys for years, but it is vital NOT to put anything hard inside. Why even do that? Instead just run the line through the center, put a cord lock and large washer on the line so that the line can be tightened to hold the noodle upright, and voila - no more damage.

These RC boats are fast. you figure what are they about 10 scale anyway, just figue on at super low end. 50 mph on these boats add up to definatly over 250 mph fullsize. In most cases 400 mph. These boats are so fast for there size if you hit something even a big wave that is a sold wack. You definatly need something like there talking about small light and soft. A milk jug, I used a 1/2g it is ok, you need to weight it so most the jug is under water. sometimes you pop the jug but a noodle in the same way would be better

check out the (make your ul 1 rock solid) thread we use long line bouys I hit one at about 50mph square shattered the magnettic canopy into 100 pieces hull is fine
