Well, That is quite an impressive shop for your boats! I wish I could be that involved but My shop is my garage that shares in winter a 86 mustang, two helis, nitro car, nitro hummer, and latest is my 36" deep v. Oh and along with a radio flyer wagon and tricycle! LOL

ok, heres mine

i got that black craftsman toolbox at a garage sale..apparently, the guy was trying to sell it, but no one would buy it, then i passed by as he was putting it with the trash and i said "is that still for sale?" he said to take it, its free....well, 30 minutes of endless rattling over the bumpiest sidewalks ever and 23 crying babies later, i got it home.....

i got a TV (w/ directv!), a phone, and even a bed in my workshop/room/home theater...i evenhave a sound system for the tv...all i need to do is replace it with a 60" plasma and it will be complete!!!

hey Doby, that yellow and aluminum boat, is that a kit or sctach build?

That boat is from a German Mfr. "Robbe" called a Lehmar, I don't think they make it any more. Its about 42" long and 14" wide with twin 700 motors hooked up to twin steerable outdrives, It weighs about 15 lbs and runs about 15 Mph . Its a cat hull. The hull is painted to look like aluminum. It also shoots water about 20 feet in front by means of a car windshield washer pump installed.

You are most welcome sir.;)
We did some testing with the wireless cameras a year or so ago. The range isn't what they said it was, only about 150'. There may be better units out there now.
You'll find it easy to drive once you get used to it. :D
I'll get some video of it in action and get it posted.

that thing is awesome, but i wouldnt get as complicated as his is...

i have a kayak to rescue boats, but thats only used at the lake behind my house, when i go to bigger lakes, i would use a rescue boat...

i was thinking of one similar to his, only it would have two peices of insulation foam about 10" wide by three feet long and would be connected by a bunch of PVC pipes all epoxied in it...there would be an upper structure over the foam and a tray that would hold all the electronics (minus motors)...the tray on the bottom would be made of pvc (with holes drilled in it sp it wont act as a float) and fishing net...there would be 2 1/4 scale servos lifting the tray......i would need to find extra long servo arms to move the tray as much as i wanted....

Doug Smock
05-07-2007, 07:04 PM
saleens7,
It isn't as complicated as it might seem.;)
I came up with this because it is illegal to use a real boat where we hold our club meetings. You can't get in the water period. (Public park)
Sometimes a tug with a tow line just isn't enough, this unit will handle just about anything.:)

Good luck with your build!!

Doug

saleens7
05-07-2007, 07:12 PM
well....i could bring along my kayak to the other lake i run at, but its too much of a hassle....i have been thinking of doing a similar setup...but using a single proboat esc and twin 540's using two 6 cell packs in parallel...

i also have that quantam motor i was going to use, but i could make it into a powerful airboat-resccueboat...i could get the esc and lipos from united hobbies....

but im still thinking of using it for an airboat i was planning on making also...another welgard 100amp esc and and two 4s lipos in parallel would make a a good big-prop airboat....

My workshop is scary, that's why you're not gonna see it! Two workbenches, one old dining room table, one 8 foot table and two sets of metal shelving plus stuff all over the rest of the basement.
No boats on the dining room table upstairs though as I'm sitting here now as that's where my computer is!
I need a bigger crib..........

That comming from a jewelry store owner..LOL. It's a good thing for the boat buget you don't have an online store front for jewelry also. MrsSJFE knows she can go buy what ever she wants @ any time with out a second thought. I had to almost BEG her to buy a new phone this morning. She works harder than any one I know. Seeing all the pics of workshops makes me want to take some time and effort and get my workshop up to snuff; its not to bad now, but I am in socal, and we had some CRAZY winds that blew all kind of crap into my shop.

The winds were so Crazy, they have been spreading multiple fires that is burining San Diego to the ground.

all of my Toysport boats have come with a hull bag, wish there were bags I could get for the other boats as well.

Every time I run my boats I clean them and wax them and then put them up, the bagged boats are clean when I put them in the truck and the others are dusty and I need to clean them again before I run them.

all of my Toysport boats have come with a hull bag, wish there were bags I could get for the other boats as well.

Every time I run my boats I clean them and wax them and then put them up, the bagged boats are clean when I put them in the truck and the others are dusty and I need to clean them again before I run them.

Do I see a SW26 Jet in there?

At least she's "top shelf" (hopefully that's a good thing)
all the other "top shelf" boats are bagged.

wickedgmc you could have someone like a mom, wife, or girlfriend make you some bags it would be easy. As a matter of fact I'm going to ask my wife to make me some :D

I wish it was that easy, my mom's is way to busy for that stuff and the wife has her hands full as well. But I will run it by here and see what she thinks.

yea she is there for now, the top shelf are where I will put the race boats, the middle will be the fun boats and that will be a fun boat.

Unfortunately is has yet to hit west coast water, as a matter of fact between painting the house inside and out and shelving rooms and hanging pictures and looking for a new job I have 5 boats that have yet to see the water :(

boats that have yet to hit the water
Jolly
Triton
Twin Jolly
Black Jack 26
SW 26 jet boat

I put some time aside this week for the water, and of course rain till xmas

Some more pics of the inside, not finished yet and no boats in it yet, I used one of those metal carports for the roof structure, it came with the property and I thought it was kindof a waste so I put it to good use. Not the prettiest building but it holds a car well to work on with plenty of room.
more pics later, have to clean it up

Avanti I see you are from St. Pete, Since july 06 I have been here in Virginia, before then I lived in Sebring FL. for over 3 years. In fact was born in Lake Worth FL. south of West Palm Beach.
I ran a dart and billiard store in Sebring and used to sell shuffleboard equipment which I purchased from Allen Shuffleboard in Seminole.

Just making conversation being bored on Sunday the wife is in Florida now so I do not have a honeydo list.

You know there are lakes everywhere there and I did not get into this hobby really until I got here. It is alot warmer there.
Put my aquajet back together today, tried a 9.6 700 instead of the 8.4, went back to the 8.4
then I started cutting my hammer up to receive the 700 9.6, have to find or make a coupler for it and get a real prop

bobswworld
01-27-2008, 08:30 PM
Yeah I know, sometimes things get a bit cold, guess I should keep the batteries in the house. I think this is where you were going???
It warms up here to well above freezing during the day, and with the dark color of building things have not froze yet.
If you were serious Rex, what should I get, cause the wife is really happy not to have this stuff in the basement.

Rex R
01-27-2008, 08:53 PM
well I will admit to thinking that; I prolly would have insulated it...(WI does get both extreams), was kinda trying to be funny. most of the workshops I see on the bboards always seem to have a mini fridge(reason usually given, store superglue...occasionally used to store a beverage or 2). if I were to use a fridge only for ca and a six pack then methinks a 6 cufoot job would be sufficent...might want something bigger if one wanted to make more than 1 icecube at a time tho :). if were me I'd insulate 1st then consider if I wanted to keep it warmed in the winter(when I wasn't using it, a space heater or small wood stove would work nicely if you just wanted to warm it occasionally) think most fridges have issues w/ below freezing temps.

bobswworld
01-27-2008, 09:15 PM
Now I understand, LOL
sounds good to me. The wife wants a new frig, so maybe I can get the old one.
Really thought you was going the other way. Started building maybe beginning of Sept. so there are a few more things I would like to do. The old house we bought is not even insulated, we are kind of inbetween the extremes of climate. wife says no insulation for garage until house is insulated. This is our first house and I feel like renting again sometimes, too much work.
My neighbor gave me a propane wall heater (in pic) it does good.
I know where you are it gets real cold, I spent 18 years up around Erie PA (dreary erie), here we just got 3 1\2 inches of snow last week and shut the town down. they are not used to it here. Rocky Mount Va is considered part of the south.
Thanks for some humor Rex
hey what boat do you run? if I was to look back at some post I could answer that.

It'll probably take a bunch of interior mods to rig her; cutting out the radiio box, re-inforcing hull & stern, fabbing a watertight hatch. I've held back since I was a little short on experience in such matters, but several boats later I think I may be up to the challange :confused2: . I'm thinking of a 9XL or 10XL on 4S. I already have Speedmaster hardware, shafts & such. Right now I'm tuning 4 boats for WW IV & also the first FE heats for the SoCal Fast Electric race in conjunction with the Seismic Amigos Nitro guys at Legg , both races this March :w00t:

Now that we've settled into our new home my wife has let me set up an rc work room inside our old place. I've spent the last few days dusting off some unfishished projects and put up shelves in our old bedroom to display my toys and remind me that I don't need anymore until these ones are all up and running. I have between 3-6pm to spend in this room so I want to pimp it out nice and keep the shed workshop for painting, messy stuff and "real" work. I'm back and look forward to skipping around on the water again soon.

I bought a scroll saw with big ambitions for a lot of projects, but once I bought a good Delta Bandsaw I have not touched the scroll saw in years. Really depends on what type of work you will go the most and how big the pieces are.

Scroll saws kinda suck. They have very little uses IMO
Band saws are just much better, and can do plenty of intricate cutting with the right blade

Just have table and counter cleaned off. Our camper is about two miles from home so most big building still takes place at home. And we just got a new puppy so the wife told me I should take the cats to Riverlot because the puppy keeps pestering them. I told her I didn't want to be down there all the time, but she said it would be best. Guess I played that card right!!!! River is 20 steps down the bank, and usually flat calm water during the week!!
