I have a 49" aeromarine donzi that I am converting gas to electric, I plan to run 8s only in this boat. I have this motor

https://www.ebay.com/itm/56112-B-Brushless-Motor-R-Snake-7350W-w-Jacket-for-Boat-Marine-optional-ESC/264493189401?hash=item3d9505c919:m:mLm_7NFqQTd40mN q2gw9bmA

KV: 780KV
Max power: 7350W
Poles number: 4
Max voltage (LiPo): 9S (780Kv)
Max Amps: 195A (780Kv)
No load current: 2.8A (780Kv)
Diameter: 56mm
Length: 112mm

Propeller will be octura x457.

Will a Swordfish X+ 200A ESC work with this setup? My goal is 50MPH.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I would run a SW 240 myself. There shouldn?t be anything wrong with 8s in that boat. Just make sure you run 8s2p, or 8s 10,000mah or more.

BTW, is this your first FE boat?

8s in a 49 inch heavy gas converted mono smells like unnecessarily high amp draw to me:flame42:, unless you are confined to 8s by class rules I would use a higher voltage to reduce the amp draw at a given speed.

Goal is only 50. He won?t be pulling a lot of amps. That set up with the right prop should work.

The x457 prop is very small for that setup, amp draw should be relatively low. 8S gas boats with 800-850 Kv motors normally run props in the 65-70 mm range, that’s a 50% increase in the thrust cone area. How efficient that prop will be on such a large draggy boat is the real question, will it be able to reach 50 mph? All those strakes should help. I assume it is a full surface drive boat.

This is my first large gas to electric conversion boat, Im coming from 1/5 scale electric cars.
I am limited to 8s due to motor and would prefer to stay at 8s so I wouldn't have to purchase any more batteries.

Which prop would you recommend then?

Thanks.

Start with the 457. See how it goes.
I think you will be surprised.

What batteries do you have now?
# of cells, -- mHa, -- "C" rating, --- Make?

Agreed Howard, I think I may only have a 455(or less) on this 45” Dumas (600kv 12s)
