Hey guys, a mate of mine has just purchased a veles 29. We want to run it on 6s with everything stock.

Question is, is it capable of running ovals for 2 and a half to 3 minutes flat out with the stock setup, or are we asking for trouble?

Definitely asking for trouble if you're wanting to run laps with the stock prop on 6s. Put a x642 on it and no worries on 6s as long as you don't have it plowing. Or run 5s with the stock prop and you will be ok as well.

You are the man I was hoping for a response from lol. So the 642 should definitely be ok on 6s running laps?

I just can’t imagine that 1mm more or less in prop diameter would be the difference between burning things up or not. I am not doubting you by any means! but did not think there would be that much of a difference.

Night and day difference in heat and amp draw between the high 17 degree rake of the abc style props compared to the Octura props. The stock prop (abc clone) will run as hot as a x447 (47mm) Octura on 6s. However, if you live in a very hot climate you might want a x442 (ProBoat recommends this one for running 6s). I was running 60mph laps with a Prather 220 and x642 from dasboata with no heat issues at all.

That is awesome info madrcer! Live in Australia so we do get quite warm days.

We will start off with 440 and gradually work our way up, with temperature checks along the way.

My mate is yet to receive the boat which is holding me up on battery selection. My question is would the Turnigy Panther Graphenes 3s 6000mah fit in the boat? They measure at 168x69x27. I’m pretty certain the 5000mah will fit without a problem but just worried about run time if we want two and a half to three minutes of continuous oval bashing hence why looking at 6000mah.

According to the speed calculator with a 442 prop and a rough estimate of pulling 120amps the 5000mah packs will last two and a half minutes but unsure if there would be enough safe voltage left in the batteries without damaging them. The 6000 mah would give three minutes of run time so would rather have that buffer.

The 6000mah also weigh in at 630grams compared to 490grams for the 5000mah.... can anyone see the weight of the 6000mah being an issue?

Im new to these boats but I did put my 6000s in my boat to just see how it handled. I?m pretty sure its to much weight bc at slow speed around 5-10 mph the boat wanted to turn over. Imnot sure if thats normal with the Veles but that was my experience.

thats normal .because of the longer rudder on the veles it will "trip" over its own rudder at slow speed turns . dont do slow speed turns . its a known issue
