I was concerned that my current lot of 4S 2250mAh packs would not fit in the hull, but I am extremely happy to report that 2 x 4s 2250mAh packs fit in the hull with room to spare. :rockon2:

This is good news for those of us who have a plethora of 4S 2200 packs from our planes/EDFs. I love the boat's layout... Simple and easy to work on. Kudos Grim/Aquacraft.:beerchug:

Good to know. Its seems that there are quite a few options available for battery selection given the size of the tub. My 4S 2250s hold voltage REALLY well and at $46 each, I was super happy that they fit.

Hopefully others will share info regarding what packs fit vs. those that don't.

What are the dimensions inside the tub for batteries?...

There has been quite a bit of discussion whether certain batteries will fit or not fit, it would be so much easier if someone just measured the inner dimensions in front of the motor mount. I am thinking of buying one.

"28mm shallowest point (front)
47mm deepest around the motor bracket."

Thanks LuckyDuc. Do you have the length measurement too?

Thanks LuckyDuc. Do you have the length measurement too?

The manual says that the packs must be less than 6"(155mm) long.

Thanks, LuckyDuc! That's a big help.

Battery Well: 155mm(L) x 28mm(H) @Front x 47mm(H) @Motor

Hey, BTW, how's the boat running for you? Have you modified props, strut, etc.?

Actually you can fit longer packs in with ease. My 2S/5000mAh ThunderPowers are just over 6" with the wires and there is over 1/4" of room left at the front of the compartment. Depending on the pack width and thickness, packs from 6.25" up to perhaps 6.4" long may fit. My 4S/3300mAh TPs fit cross-wise in front of the motor, good if I ever need to move the CG forward.

So far the K-45 seems the best prop when running by myself. In race water that may not be true, I'll find out Saturday. Note I am just trying plastic props - the local club wants to keep prop tweeking to a minimum to keep things more equal. Suits me.

Unfortunately I have to wait until my lake conditions improve a bit before her maiden.

UL-1: Dimensions for Batteries

Well guys, I've been listening to all the talk over this hydro. I ended up buying a Red UL-1 over the weekend from Steve. The first thing I checked was the inner dimensions for batteries.

170mm (L) front to motor mount
28mm (H) @ front
45mm (H) @ motor

Plenty of space for any pair of 2S LiPos ever made! I'll have to wait until April to test it. In the mean time, I'll be tuning in for any mods from the one's living in warmer climates...

Hey you got one, congrats !
Remember to test the water jacket for leaks before you take her out for the first time...

is that where you can place the battery? wouldnt there be a balance issue?
im sorry i could be wrong...

also, does this model accepts a 4s lipo without needing to add/upgrade anything?
i can just buy me a 4s and bam?

Yes. You could buy 2 x 4S 2250mAh packs and wire them in parallel for a total of 4500mAh. No upgrade needed to the ESC or motor as it is the same voltage as the recommended 2 x 2S lipos wired in series. I'm using two 4S packs in parallel because I already have them on hand.

that is wonderful news to hear!

But would i need to upgrade anything if i were to install these batteries in my ul-1? Or just slap them on and go?
