Looks great . The Hull looks Identical to the Twin 36. Wonder if they made any changes to the hull . Looks like a few upgrades, Extra water pickup, new motors and new strut mounts . 2 thumbs up.

The hull seam has been reinforced around the entire perimeter. Rafael Lopez ran his onto shore at full speed and only suffered a hairline crack across the front bridge. That hull was a preproduction model that did not have as much reinforcement as the production hull does.

Modifications and upgrades include:
MR4000 receiver for longer range
Extended motor mounts with rear support that can also accept 40mm motors
Revised ESC's with larger cap banks & better cooling
ABC 1716 style Props
Water exits now out the top
Sonicwake 3674 motors
Extended struts with support brackets, makes the boat much more stable at speed
"Lots and lots of hull reinforcement too"

I have a question about this new geico 36 inch boat. you can use 2 packs in series than paralled out to both motors, but what will the 2nd set of 2 packs give, you , more run time, so packs total??

prepered
05-26-2019, 05:19 PM
You can run 2x3 s but it will not give you full power and runtime will be about half of if you run 4x3s. So 4x3s will be recommend .

4343
05-26-2019, 05:43 PM
hi, so you mean by running 4, 3s packs, say the 4 are 5000 mah each, does that mean you will get 6s 10000 mah??

Bulldog21
05-29-2019, 10:14 AM
No he is saying run 2x 3s to each motor for 6s 5000mah ln each side. If you want 10000mah you can do 2x 6s 5000mah in parallel to each side but is not recommended

Erroneous

Cant wait to hear some feedback on this new setup.

4343
05-29-2019, 04:13 PM
what would be the connections for this, if using 2 3s you hook a series up to both packs than parallel to esc, how about the next 2 packs??

fweasel
05-29-2019, 06:09 PM
what would be the connections for this, if using 2 3s you hook a series up to both packs than parallel to esc, how about the next 2 packs??

Using the included series/parallel harness, two 3S packs are connected together in series to create 6S voltage, which is then split with the parallel portion of the harness to feed both ESC's 6S voltage. This is not the optimal way to run this boat, but that harness is provided so that those with only two lipo packs are able to run the boat.

The preferred method is to removed the series/parallel harness and run two 6S packs, one to each ESC, or use four 3S packs, connecting two packs together using the option series harness.

so if you connect first 2 packs in series, how is the second set of packs connected than parralled out??

so if you connect first 2 packs in series, how is the second set of packs connected than parralled out??
It’s a cheaper 2 pack setup only useing 2x 3s packs in series then paralleled out to the esc so the both esc receive 6s power without loads of batts. It’s less weight and easier on the wallet but not as good of a set up and the weight of a 4 pack setup helps keep it on the water

Taped it all up today. Took her for a couple runs and flipped it. I then noticed my batterie tray came loose. Idk if it was from the accident or from when i flipped it.

It looks like this tray is glued and screwed. I wonder what kind of glue and when do you screw it when installing a new one? I have a new hull on order... i should prob order a new battery tray. Idk if i can get the old glue off the old one or just leave it on and epoxy the remaining glue down ehh... i would like to know how to properly install a battery tray to one of these hulls

danthem
07-01-2019, 10:04 AM
The tray for electronics and batts is one piece fixed with 8 screws to the hull,if not cracked you can reuse it in the new hull.

jhurlbert
07-01-2019, 10:37 AM
There definitely is like at least an 1/8” thick layer of glue between the hull and tray. The screws dont go into the hull they only go into the glue.

I dont think im going to be able to get the old glue off the bottom of the tray so i ordered a new tray for my new hull.

Now i wonder whats the process of installing a new tray?

Just swapped receivers with my sonicwake. The problem didn't follow. So its the servo that is the problem.

I spray everything with CorrosionX and never have issues. It’s great stuff. Back in my nitro days the fuel would eat balloons so I had to get another solution. Been using that stuff ever since.

Anything with metal gears that has the same torque spec as the stock servo. Preferably waterproof so you don’t have to waterproof it yourself

Just purchased Sunday. New Geico 36. (2) 6s1p 45c

Boat was incredibly fast. 2nd run. Flipped at full throttle. Got it to shore and the right flex shaft was broken.

Brought home and put it on the bench to measure and order replacement. I then noticed the deck and hull seam damage, also the chipped sponson. I think torque broke the flex shaft causing the boat to flip at ~75mph
causing the 6S batts to stress break boat at impact. I did not upload pic but the opposite sponson is cracked also.

I will call Horizon tomorrow but I am afraid they will claim I hit something. I do not think I did as there are no visible signs of impact. Either the prop, sponson or rudder. Anyone have an opinion as to the cause? I think the flex shaft broke causing it to flip.

Thanks

Ok thanks I go with Horizon on alot of models because their customer service is excellent. Another question is that as I am new to current FE's capable of +75mph. Should I expect regardless of of make if it flips at speed should I expect to have major damage?

I am very interested in a Zonda also, will it be an issue?

Yes, Anything running that speed is very capable of sustaining damage.

fweasel
07-26-2019, 10:47 AM
Agreed, things get real when you start flipping and crashing at 70+ MPH. TFL builds a nice hull. The carbon Zonda's are light, but thin and benefit from some reinforcement if all out speed is your goal. The fiberglass version with the carbon/kevlar inlay can still split at the seams. I've seen pictures of that particular hull with air pressure blowout type damage and the inlay just pulled away from the split seam. If you want to go fast, repeatedly, build your boat accordingly.

Update on Geico 36 - Horizon has approved a full warranty replacement!!

Absolutely incredible customer service. Boat is in stock at the local Hobbytown all I have to do is pick up the replacement.

I have purposely tried to support my last standing Hobbyshop in the area vs online and I think they appreciate that.

I'm still not sure sure what caused the failure but believe the flex shaft failed causing the crash. I will lube the new shafts before the next maiden.

Horizon definitely has great customer service. I had an issue with one of the struts on my zelos 36 that caused the boat to hook left hard at wide open throttle and smash into the shore. The zelos 36 is now out of stock so they replaced the boat with the geico version for a $100 fee. I wanted the original model back and requested they rebuild it with a new hull, but apparently the original bulls are not available either.

Dalley

Got the replacement. 66.5mph with batteries (6s1p) 90C 2/3 forward. I'm about out of lake but I think I will still get upgraded props.

At the very least, drill holes in the middle of that loose tab, and chip away the old epoxy around the edges. You'll get more surface area and a stronger bond when you reattach it to the hull with new epoxy

Well i like them so far after about 3 runs. I have not made to many top speed passes because i flipped it to many times with stock props (i then trimmed it all the way down and haven't trimmed it back up at all sense. Im a little scared.) i don't think you will be disappointed. Just makes a month or two to get the props. But they are sweet. Mirror finish!

Call me crazy, but now I'm thinking about getting one. My first FE was a 'debate' between the ProBoat SonicWake, and the TFL Pursuit. Since the SonicWake was immediately available, that's what I ordered (from Steve). It's a fantastic boat to learn on, and now I'm ready for my second FE (preferably something that's racing-capable. For this, it's been between the Pursuit, and the ProMarine Phantom SV33...unfortunately, neither is currently available, with the SV33 being a "who knows when it'll be available" situation.

Anyway, I'm visiting family in Vegas right now, and, before leaving the SF Bay Area, I found out about an RC lake near the airport, so, I thought I'd stop there before heading to my parents house. When I arrived, there was a guy running his Miss Geico...and, it was running very nicely. When he brought it in, I checked it out. Come to find out, he had just picked it up the day before, and this was his first time running it...and, he couldn't have been happier.

While it probably won't be my 2nd FE (tho, if obtaining either the Pursuit, or SV33, proves 'impossible', that could change), but I'm fairly confident it'll be my 3rd, or 4th.
