The Brandon Model Boat club is hosting the event as they are a central location for the FE Clubs in FL who will run the event. Wave Blasters, Sarasota and Lee County. The normal 5 D-3 classes will be offered plus P limited OB Tunnel and a P-Q OB tunnel class that will run a Lemans beach start. Finally we offer an open FE or run what ya brung class. (10 cell limit). 4 rounds of heat racing on Sunday with open water and grudge racing Saturday afternoon. Awards will be certificates. Also a drivers raffle for prizes, one ticket per boat. Seaducer Boats is the first sponsor and we are open to donations. Check out RCRacingevents for entry details.
https://www.rcracingevents.com/cgi-bin/rcrev.pl

We hope this will grow and be an annual event. Thanks again for the Brandon Club for allowing us the use of equipment and one of the best race sites in Florida.

Wow 2 days since posting the race and we have 7 drivers. I know of several more local and others competing at the Orlando race that will be signing up. We hope this inaugural stand alone FE event will show District 3 that FE is part of the future of model boat racing. I know Ken and the Wave Blasters have carried the banner for years with much resistance. We have an opportunity to showcase our cause at a race site with long term history in Florida. So if you can make it please join in and help out as your welcome, beginner or veteran.

We are up to 13 drivers and 37 boats. Many yet to enter.
Important consideration here is each boat entered will get a raffle ticket. Rather than ask for class sponsors we want to keep awards minimal and give drivers a chance at prizes. Brandon will retain the entry fees for use of their site and equipment so the local FE clubs will be helping put this race on. We will have a prize table and the 1st ticket drawn gets choice of a prize. 2nd and a so on down till all are gone. Starting an event with no history it's hard to get donations. That said Seducer Boats has donated a hull and Roaring Top has donated a pair of batteries. Any donations are welcome. We had to wait on other district clubs to coordinate events before we could officially post this race so time is short but we are hoping FE vendors will see value in supporting this race.

do you have to be a member and if so who do I contact? I have a couple more guys that I'm sure they will surely love to get their feet wet in racing. However, with no experience or knowing the rules and guidelines is there anyone we can contact to get further information?. . .thanks and very much looking forward to this event

This race is NAMBA sanctioned and requires NAMBA membership to participate.
http://namba.com/content/default.asp
Look at resources on the NAMBA website and it has instructions for membership. Also there is a link to the rule book which would be a good read for new or experienced.
We will have open water on Saturday and if possible it would be an advantage for any new comers to run on the course. We would gladly hold practice heats with a clock start for anyone.

Not to worry, we have some experienced racers that will pitch in for anyone that needs a pit person. Just speak up at the drivers meeting so we don't have to hunt someone down between heats.

I opened up the limit on entries for spec classes to 24 so 6 left in each. That will be the cutoff as we now won't be able to take a leisurely pace. I do not want to cut to 3 heats either so be ready to race and we will get the 4th round in. 6 boats in a heat so limited has 6 heats and counting. Turning in to a very competitive field.

IMPORTANT Race info. Race entries need to be in by Friday March 1st. You can still pay with Pay/Pal by re-entering on RCRacingevents, and use the PP option. Then contact me at htv1414@aol.com with FE Race in the header and I will contact Bill Britton to cancel the duplicate entry.
Also if your plans have changed and you cannot make the race please let me know so we can cancel you out before we set up the final heats for the event this weekend.

Good News - bad news
The count is up over 90 boats and that adds up to 17 heats in a round. 3 rounds = 51 heats. A 4th round has to be limited to the top 6 in each class which makes 58 heats total. Not a shootout as points earned will be retained. We have 10 hours and need to run 6 heats an hour. 5 minute clock, 2 minute racing and retrieve time. do the math.
Be ready for your heat as we need to keep a steady pace. Speak up if you need a minute or running back to back. Also daylight savings time starts that day so an 8 am drivers meeting is early,be there with time to spare for signing in and getting heat schedules.

Saw come video from this on FB. Looked like a killer site.

Yes killer site with a monster alligator who showed up during the raffle drawings. This gator was estimated to be at least 12ft long...it was a monster. I have some small ones in my pond in my backyard and I’m not afraid to go in as I like the feel of being in the cool water, it if this one was in it I wouldn’t even think about getting in or just being at the edge. But, the races were awesome. I’m trying to find the video of Luis’s, of OSE, boat submarine a couple of times. Once right in front of the stands and it was under for a good 5-8 seconds before it popped up. . . some good races to watch

Once again my son Fede and I would like to thank Mic, Jeff, and Linda for such
a great job hosting and putting on this event. The racing, pace, and camaraderie
were terrific. We met a bunch of new racers and many old friends. Support from a
widespread list of sponsors was terrific to hear as well. Many interesting conversations
for continued Fast Electric growth and future racing here in the District and in Florida
were exciting to talk about. Hopefully this is an annual staple event for many future years.
In total Fede and I ran a total of 31 heats....we were sure exhausted by the end of that
Sunday, my apologies if I had some moments where there just was no time to chat with
people.....I know there was an hour or 2 that some equipment problems and the racing
frenzy itself made it almost impossible for me to do anything else but wrench and race.

Before I forget......One of the highlights of my weekend was to Congratulate Geoff Bishop
for winning the P-Ltd Mono class. Geoff is one of our Wave Blasters club members. I had
to persuade Geoff to attend knowing I needed his experienced Pit-man help. The amazing
part is that Geoff entered his "revolt" and old club race boat that we all thought was obsolete.
With his steady consistent driving he carved up the field and ended up on top.
Very, Very impressive feat......Congrats Geoff !!

Attached are some pictures of Geoff after he humbled me :bounce:
