First racing sessions for 2019 (Jan 13th at Noon & Feb 24th at Noon), are you ready??

Its the usual rules for pool racing, 2S for the larger Revolts, Lucas oil, pro-marines, pro-boats (offshore style boats, sub 34"). Also 45mm MAX plastic props please.

For the small mini boats, 3S Max, (no Riggers please) Recoils, mini mono's, GP1, etc.

This is not for the faint of heart, it's close quarters, tight, concrete walls and floors, and you WILL get battle scarred. DO NOT put your pride and joy in the pool!

The flyer for the Brownsburg Duel in the pool. (Coming soon)

Location Brownsburg High school on the west of Indianapolis.

I just googled it. 4:38. Hmmmmmmmm.

It's at noon? Leave at 6:00am. Grab some breakfast. This always looked like a scream to me.

Would Titans work or too big?

Terry - You would be more than welcome. Titan 29? that would be fine, the full 40 inch might be pushing it, biggest we've done is a Spartan. Would you bring a scale boat too? a Mini racer? I'd want you to get value for the drive.

Scale boats?

It would be more of a ........come down and act a fool kind of thing.

So the Pool time (about 3hrs total) is split 50:50 with the scale folks, tug boats, steam boats, air boats, jet boats, Hugheys giant tug. The pool rotates every 30mins, we run a round of offshore (2s) and then a mini boat round (3s) then there is normally a bit of time to test or monkey around before the 30mins is over. Rinse and repeat 3 times.

Fooling around is what we are good at.

Terry, if you can find the time, you won't be disappointed. It's a blast and an RC bucket list type event. I'll be there, even if there's a snowstorm. The date couldn't be more perfect. I'll be in Indy that weekend regardless for a mini Purdue reunion and an AC/DC tribute band Friday night at the Vogue.

CAN"T WAIT!

I think the snow is going to keep me out of indy this weekend. So bummed. Hopefully the February date is better for travel. Have fun boys!

We had every intention of running down. Just too many irons in the fire. Sorry guys.

It was until 2/3 into the last heat......The shaft broke at the joint, it was a glued shaft not a brazed. OH well..........

Thats pretty cool. Do they charge the club to use the facilities?

trigger
01-14-2019, 09:30 AM
Yes the Club rents the pool, sometimes members or guests pay to offset the cost, I think its only around $100 for the 3 hours of warm fun. Oh and tips for the lifeguards who swim to pick up parts....LOL

Had a great time, as usual. Already planning for next year. I need an illegal boat for micro, and a cat for offshore.

I traveled solo this year, no pit crew, and didn't have time for any photos or video. Snapped a few in the "pits" as I was packing up.

Mike gives me hell about the mini boat all year long, its stupidly fast though. To be fair though, its a touch large for the class and a bit cheaty, but myself and my two boys can all play if we strreetttcccchhh the rules a bit, and its all good fun. Its even fun letting Mike nag me about it. :thumbup1:

The revolt would be the pool champ over the cats, and has been in the past. There is a reason its a touch slower :spy:

Look at the damage on the boats.......I'd never put anything decent in the pool. Too much rubbing during racing. LOL

You're not really trying if you're not just a little "cheaty". :rockon2: My hull is just too light for the race water and didn't take too well when I tried to run a little more negative trim, so I'm going to change to something different next year. I'm waiting for the right boat to find me. One that screams, "Sink me in a pool!" If I had more free time, and no job, I'd cut 2" off the front of a wrecked Zelos hull and run a 2S twin.
