Just want to say thanks to Randy and Terry both. They took it upon themselves to ask the FE community what they could offer that might be successful. As a result, we have 11 electric classes to choose from.

I know a number of us from MMEU had this on the the travel list and are already planning. The fellas from NY are planning on being there. They have a local FE presence too. Then if you own more than one fuel sourced boat they have that too. So if you've ever thought about traveling to a race, just do it. This group gets it like Atlanta does. Fun matters. Just pack yer crap up, get in the car, and get there. Come have fun with the rest of us idiots.

Park entrance fees have increased this year to C$15 per vehicle per day including one occupant and C$5 for each additional occupant.

They have offered us a discount through a token system, a straight C$15 per vehicle per day, no charge for extra occupants.

Tokens are C$15 each and are good for one vehicle per day, you will get them when you first arrive at the park.

To purchase please PayPal as a gift in Canadian funds (or EMT in Canada) your order to me at: tkee@rogers.com

Deadline is August 1st.

Of course if you are camping there are no additional park fees.

Ugh. I could say something about them being greedy but they do kinda let us take over one of their ponds. Is what it is.

Yup. All the "Conservation Authorities" around here (parks) have had to become self sufficient in the past few years I'm told.

Fifteen bucks for the day is still a pretty good deal for a family, especially if Mom and the kids don't want to hang around the boats all day.

They are privatizing almos5 everything these days. It does keep out some of the riff raff though... I always managed to sneak in and for free a few times. That’s just because my friend one exit down lends me his yearly pass.

The restaurant is under new management, it's now called "Limani" and has a Greek flair. Food looks really good. We haven't talked about discount coupons yet but I'm sure they'll do something for us.

Good news. The new restaurant owners have given us $10 off coupons like before, hopefully we can get a group together for dinner on Saturday night!

We are close to the 150 mark for registration. Classes are filling in nicely. Could use some more FE entries to round things out. Each class needs a minimum of 5 boats registered to race. If you haven’t signed up yet, please do ASAP as we have to order trophies soon. Thanks guys.

Looking like 10th isn't going to make it with the guys we're going to be missing. Randy, please add me into P sport. If we can get one more of those we can run that too. I could probably sponge a Q cat but at some point there isn't enough of me to handle all the classes. Much over 10 for Ty and I and things get sketchy.

Guys, this is a good gig. Make the trip. You wont be sorry. Sure would like to see more FE....lings.

Just got word the IMPBA has released a technical document concerning motors for FE 1/8th Scale.

As the Can-Am is an IMPBA sanctioned event we must adhere to the IMPBA Rule Book so this technical document must be followed at our race:

https://nebula.wsimg.com/f7b28fb053dfc3441af4634768aea1c8?AccessKeyId=ACA73 81D2BFC72351748&disposition=0&alloworigin=1

Document seems to be missing at least a decades worth of data on proven motors plete, lehner, neu. Now I'm supposed to chuck Quality motors for the list stated.... don't think so.
News flash.... this is not an entry level class. Trying to save 150 -250 bucks on a 2k boat ?? Whaaaat ?

Easy there fella... Sentence #2 in the document reads :Peace_Sign:

"This is, of course, in addition to the currently approved motors that are listed in the IMBPA rulebook."

It's a list of motors added to the ones already approved:

"This is, of course, in addition to the currently approved motors that are listed in the IMBPA rulebook."

J-6 4e:

e. Only one brushed motor of any type or one brushless motor from the following types, Lehner
22xx series, Neu 15xx series and Plett 370. Any other brushless motor is subject to technical
approval.

Gonna miss you and Deb at the race this year, hope to see you in 2019! :thumbup1:

Very proud of our Northern Lights MBC members, family and friends that worked tirelessly to run a first class event for our guests.

A special thank you to our scorekeepers Claire and Robin (who I forgot to mention at the trophy presentation). They worked non stop all weekend to keep track of the scores, create the heats for our shootout format, manage Can-Am & Oneida Cup scoring and post all the results as soon as each round was finished. We could not have run this format without them.

More to follow, I'm going to bed!

I would like to give a BIG THANKS to the Northern Lights MBC for all of your hard work. This includes Robin and Claire for their up to date score keeping and Roxy who did the work to provide us the opportunity for a great lunch. The club does an excellent job of running the race by making fair calls, they keep the day rolling, and this year provided a $10(CDN) lunch that was better than what most restaurants serve. The race site is nearly perfect for some incredible boat racing. It’s an excellent size, well protected from any kind of wind, and plenty of room for canopies. Most importantly are the people! This event attracts a really awesome group of people. Lots of smiles and laughs after another fun event! Thanks again NLMBC!

Thanks
Mike Ball

By all accounts the Can-Am for 2018 was a huge success, thanks mainly to all our guests that came from miles around to make our party one of the best there is. Again a huge thank you to all our club members, family and friends and who shared the work so everything ran smoothly.

Results are posted to rcRacingEvents: http://www.rcracingevents.com/cgi-bin/raceresults.pl?action=show_race&club=Northern%20Lights%20Model%20Boat%20Club&event=canam2018

Nice work fellas. Thank you for being such gracious hosts......again.

There are a lot of little things this group just does. Scheduling of manpower. Rotating the heat calling duties. Pretty fair calls I thought.
Patience where needed without letting that patience become a burden to other racers. Pit bosses keeping track of who belongs in the heat thats up. Little things that add up to a smoother experience. As an organizor of sorts myself I notice some of those little things. Logistics so to speak. These guys and gals have it.

Put this one on yer to-do list folks.
