Just wondering if any of you guys are running this 1515 - 2200 kv motor on 4s and what you think of it power / rpm wise. also would a 180 amp esc be ok or would a larger amp size of 220 or 240 be better ? going into rigger for oval racing h7 or 1450 mod props.

I'm running it in my Syncron on 4s with a hobbyking 180a esc. I still need to get the Eagle Tree and gps in it to show the actual data but I'm pretty happy with it Right now with a m440 things stay cool and I get about 2:45 on 5000mah packs. Check out my vids here: https://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?57932-Syncron-Maiden-Voyage-Vids&p=699335#post699335 I dont know how much time you have to decide by I will be posting actual data hopefully next weekend because I'm looking to see if I can run it on a x445/m445 props.

Sport running for me but how much speed and run time do you require for oval racing?

It's a more efficient motor than a comparable Leopard, probably close to a TP. I've set SAW records with them, although there are better motors for that use. IME the stator becomes saturated around 200 amps, below that it works well.

It is a very good oval motor for appropriate sized hulls, not so much for those hulls at the P length limit.

i have a Castle -Neu 1415-2400 kv in my jae 21/fe and am building another jae for the 1515-2200 kv, the 1415 i must say isn,t as quick as i would have thought it should have been so this is why i am thinking on the 1515 size but going by the kv difference between the two maybe the 1415 is a quicker motor ??

Odd, I run a Castle 1415/1Y in my JAE, it is plenty fast. Runs 12-second laps on the 1/6th mile course hitting upper 70s on the straights. This is a mild setup pulling under 130 amps average, it would be well into the 80s (maybe 90s) with a SAW setup. What packs, ESC and prop do you run? What timing advance?

I would not expect much speed improvement with the 1515, perhaps even slower without the right prop.

Hi Fluid, the packs i use are either the zippy 5800 / 65c / 4s or zop power 5000 / 60c /4s . the esc is the hk 180 v2 [ latest model ] prop is a stock H7 and timing is zero. i have no drag in the drive line as the liner is removed and the shaft turns freely plus the drive dog has a 3/16 gap.

For one thing the motor needs 15* timing advance. I run an H-7 too, but it is cupped. The strut needs to be pushed down hard on the inside of the ski.

The packs are not the best but should give decent speed. Remember that all the power in an FE boat is in the packs, the motor just converts electrical energy into mechanical, it has to have enough energy to work with.

What is wrong with the rigger's performance? What are your expectations?

i was told to set the timing at 0 degrees being a d wind motor . many have said this motor and hull combo will go an easy 70 mph in oval trim but to me this rigger looks more like its going about 60 mph. my other jae has a t.p. 4050 - 2310 kv motor with same batteries and prop and it does seem to be quicker than the 1415 powered jae.

All Castle motors are Wye winds, including yours. Use 15* advance. You have all the parts to hit 70+, try it with 15*. What other props in the 45-48mm range do you have?

i have a stock H6 and a 1450 mod by zippkits. someone told me to set the timing at zero degrees for this motor but it sounds like there in correct, i will adjust it 15 thanks Fluid.

The H-7 is probably the better prop. The H-6 has similar numbers but is back cut reducing thrust. The 1450 is not as efficient as a modded H-7 but it might be worth a try. I want to try an ABC1816 if I can find one.

thanks Fluid. hey try [ HPM RC POWER BOATS ] they have the 1816 x 2 prop.
