Anyone tried of these yet in a 1/8 FE Unlimited

I haven't used that one, but have the ProTek RC 130T in a gas boat since first of the year and I have not had any issues with it.

I use to be a serious Hi Tech 7950's & 7980's guy in my other hobby RC Rock crawlers not the scale stuff, but serious Custom built 1/8 Comp Crawlers 2 ESC's & @ 1 motor on each axle 4wd @ 4ws but kept burning the HI-tech's up even a mild voltages so switch to ProTek 170t's and have not smoke a servo 1 in 2 yrs (just for a size comparison the wheels on the pictured are 8 " in dia)

I'm sure the What I posted up above will be just fine especially with 600 + oz of Tq. just was wondering if anyone had used them in a boat and gave them a wet test yet

There is no need for that kind of power in an FE boat. Boats are not crawlers. Even half that torque is more than required ever for much larger boats. Rather than spend the money on unnecessary power, IMO spend it on a good digital servo in the 200-250 in-oz range. The digital will have strong centering power which is more important that brute strength.

I agree 100%... I worked out the torque requirement on a rainy weekend and a 35" boat going 60mph, using 4" of rudder water penetration, took about 158oz/in". I figured that was driving it pretty hard (I'm not at that level, YET). So I got a 215oz/in" unit in there. Another point about overpowered servos is that they can voltage spike your receiver. They have a very high current pull when they start to move. I put a capacitor onto my unused recv. channel to tame down the 215oz unit. The UBEC has a chock (ferrite ring) on the power feed wire giving some L, then the added C made a nice filter.

I'll tell you something I just noticed. I have a radio post green servo which is 249in oz at 6v and 305in-oz at 7.4v and just sitting on the bench turning the rudder back and forth, you can see the voltage drop .1v

I can only imagine when it's actually working.

Some of the savox servos come with them. stops brown outs.
