Last weekend I flipped my 6s sports hydro. As the boat hit the water poor Ash, who was immediately behind me & just to the outside, had no time to react & his left sponson speared through the belly of the boat.
Luckily he was able the continue the race. I still feel bad about the damage done to Ash's boat, the 'Woody'
When I went out to retrieve the upside down hydro I saw the hole as an easy fix with some tape ready for the next race.
It was a different story when the cowling was removed however.
The sponson had broken the motorshaft, mangled the flex & stuffing tube, & bent the motor mount. She was out for the day.
Just couldn't believe that the motor shaft could be broken like that.
All fixable of course but here are some pics.
The boat in pristine condition before the race.

Another view of the 'Woody'. It was such a beautiful boat too.
