Or should I swap it all over to bullets, and if so, what size?
Boat is factory Pro Marine 34 MTR with factory 3674 2075 kv brushless mtr and Seaking 120a V3 ESC. Planned battery power is a pair of Revolectrix 5000mah 3s 70c Silver Label lipos. Thoughts pls, Im a first timer with all this. Thanks.
PS-I guess Im going to need to learn to solder. Boat has yet to hit the water, waiting on Lipos.

If you're running the batts in parallel, no problem. If running in series, no. If running 6s, I would use castle 6.5mm bullets. Is that a SSS motor?

Sorry but the website doesnt specify other than the numbers listed above. There are no other markings on the motor other than Pro Marine. I was planning on going 6s so I guess an update is in order. Thanks Prodrvr.

I mentioned SSS because I have that motor and I don't think any other manufacturer has a 2075Kv 3474. It runs well I'll tell you that. A friend has two of them in a Zonda with 40mm props. Does high 50's and the motors come in cold. What's the prop specs that came with the boat?

Oh one more thing. Be prepared to let that esc rest after two minutes of full throttle passes. I didn't have the temp gun with me when we ran his boat but the esc got quite hot. If I were you, I would pull the 120 out before you even use the boat, sell it and get a 180.

I still can't believe they ship that boat with Deans connectors on it. Definitely needs to be upgraded. If the soldering is temporarily above your paygrade and you want to hit the water sooner than later, take the batteries and the boat to a local hobby shop and ask them to do it for you.

Stock prop which is an ABC 2 blade 42mm 1.4 on a 3/16 shaft. I was also wondering which prop upgrade might be a help without overheating the motor or ESC. I was actually going to ask you about an ESC upgrade. I was looking at a 180 Seaking. Fweasel, I can mutter through the soldering, Ive just got to pick up an iron.

Yeah, if that motor on 6s turning 40mm props is heating up the 120, it will get even hotter with a 42mm prop. I would definitely throw a 180 in it, then see where it's at temp wise with the 42mm.

If it were me I would switch out the connectors for something already mentioned or similar from OSE https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/products.php?cat=Bullet+Connectors+%26+Wire

I would also keep the ESC and save it for another project or as a spare as well as getting a stronger ESC.

A 180 is great, a Raider 150 will do also. Good to support Steve's store.

For sure Ray, Ive got a bunch of items in my cart already, but since Im just gettting into this Im starting to reconsider the upgrades above as Im almost into this new hobby for 1k with the charger and a few Lipos and this thing hasn't even been wet yet. Maybe going parallel for now would be the smart move so I can minimize the expenses and learn the hobby a little better before sinking in more money. Something to think about.

I tend to jump in with both feet with enthusiasm and often have to rein myself in with the spending. Ill get there though. Thanks.

Just getting started and 1K deep? Be prepared for many of those 1K's.

You can merge the two hobbies, shoot at your boats, watch how expensive that gets.

Thanks for the link Ray. Good for you Prodvr, here in NY the gun shows suck, and everything is over priced.

I lived in NYC and LI since birth and never had guns except for a .22 rifle I had for a very short time. I moved to FL almost 9 years ago. The 2nd amendment rules down here! Everyone I know is carrying, so of course I had to get myself a nice toy...Glock 19 gen 3. Been dragging butt on getting my concealed weapons licence, but it's on the list.

Ill get out of here one day, I'm 52 and am about to start a new job, so I have a few years before I can retire. Glad you made it out.

I got married at 40, moved down two months later. Just needed a change, plus I drive tractor trailers and it really sucked in the winter time. So she got her job transferred and I quit mine. That was the end of '08 and driving jobs down here were scarce. Took me three months to find a job. Got lucky and was hired on with the county I live in. Got even luckier six years later when I got divorced! Good luck with your new job man!
