Well it's time to start planning the next WWSR boat.
For those that have followed the previous builds of the Bluebird, Spirit of Australia, & Crusader, it will be obvious that they are all British & Australian boats.
Time to even the scales a bit & build one of the American contenders.
An obvious choice is Lee Taylor's Hustler.
It broke the Bluebird's record of 276mph with 285mph in 1967. The Spirit of Australia took the record with 288mph in 1977 & then extended it to 317mph in 1978 where it still stands to this day.
So it seems only fitting to build this one.

The beauty of this one is that there are no inlet ducts to contend with. The face of the fan is open to the air, so this one will be the fastest of the three boats as a model, I would say.

I can't find any drawings or plans, but the hull for Spirit of Australia is a very similar design. I can adjust that to suit. The cockpit, cowling & tailfin will be easy to shape up off the photos available.
But if anyone can track down some simple line drawings I would be most appreciative.

Here's a few images.

Yep.
She held the record for 10 years or so.

Where do you find this stuff? Amazing. Can't wait to see the build.

Pete.

I just google world water speed record boats & it all comes up. Unfortunately, no plans or drawings for this one yet though.

I do have the drawings for Guy Lombardo's Tempo Alcoa. That's another one I want to build.
