View Full Version : Yet another impulse 31 question.

Brought it early last year had fun with it. Maybe 10-15 runsish. I've upgraded the driveshaft and have two sharpen balanced actura props. Runs great, but of course I want more power.

Will this work? Will I need to make any modifications?

I'm thinking the can will be to long?

1600kv for 4s to 6s Lipo or

1450kv for 4s to 6s Lipo

Thanks for any input.

You want more power, but at what cost? At a certain point that size hull won't be able to handle the extra power and speed that comes with it. The KV you show above really require 6s, if you want to run 4s then look around 2,000kv. Ludacris speed will require additional inlay/support in the hull from potential stesss, or more likely a crash.

Here is the Impulse with the 4082, it's very fast, but nearly uncontrollable (which to me is less fun that a well tuned & Fast boat)

I think Newboater is running a 4082 1650kv motor in his impulse with an ABC 1915 prop. It screams and is essentially the same setup I run in my Voracity.

If you upgrade the motor, sell me the old one, I need a spare.

So if I want somewhat more stable power the 1450kv would be a safer bet?

No necessarily, just a different approach. You would prop accordingly to keep the amp draw within reason and achieve your target speeds. When the Impulse 31 V3 was released, Rafael Lopez mentioned that the 4082 Voracity motor was a good upgrade.
