Hey fellas. Been a little while but I'm back. I decided to buy a new boat and decided to be different. I bought a kyosho jetstream 888.for those not familiar it's a 36" stepped v. Hoping I could get a few questions answered. The boat comes with 80 amp esc and 2030kv outrunner. I already ordered a 180 turnigy esc and I plan to run 4-5s 3600mah lipo. My question is what would be the ideal motor/kv for an upgrade? I can run i runner or outrunner since there is room for either.

What are your speed, runtime and reliability goals? Will you run 4S or 5S? That's not a lot of pack capacity. Lots of options, need more info.

I want to run 4s most of the time with a 5s occasionally. Reliability is important. I don't want to push my luck and burn anything up. I want the fastest speed a boat like this can handle safely. Not sure if an outrunner is the best option any longer but it would be cool to continue with one for weight reduction and extra torque.

Here is the inside of hull. I plan to remove radio box for more room but kyosho didn't do any favors with space but she sure is pretty on the outside

4082 to 4092 around 1800kv area should work fine. What speeds are you looking for or just a fun boat to have? So many variables. I say 1800kv because you can run 4,5 and 6s. I would only use 6s mainly for speed runs.

This is just a ripper for fun. I want the fastest speeds safely. Due to size restraints the boat will in no way hold a 6th cell. 5 is absolute max. And I can get up to 4000mah stuffed in I also think a 40mm can will be too big. Gonna be stuck with 36 mm. The hull is close to a p1 venom just better quality.
