Old Dumas hydro from 1984. I think it will good once it's done. I'm going to do a 8s set up in her and let her eat.

Be careful of the trap/tunnel. It is real rampy and will stuff/pack a lot of air.

I herd a few ppl say these are crappy running hydros. Guess we will have to see.
You know this hull will trap a lot of air under it? If that the case it's not going to go that
Fast Before it flips over. That's not good.

Those hulls were designed over 30 years ago when even nitro power was not that much. As a result they pack a lot of air to keep them on plane. I know that the hydro hulls I've run from the mid-80s had way too much lift for current racing speeds and required modification. If you keep the top speed in the original range - low 50s - it should be okay, but much faster and it may think it's a bird.

The man who I got this hull from said the samething about old hydros but this one is ahead of its time. The brake is not that big on the eagle like other olde hydros and the sponsons look up to date. It alread does mid 70 on a good day. I'll post video soon.

From the looks of that stuffing tube in the second picture, -Your prop is going to run pretty deep.:confused2:

I mite make a small adjustment up on it and use a submarine prop. All my other boats seem to run goog (good) like that. Stay tuned and find out how it works. Speed will not be a problem here guys. Lol

I'm glad to see other boaters make fun of man for useing a sleeve on his stuffing tube. Im bring back a old part of Rc boating history. I don't think it really that funny and think is kool. Make all the jokes you need to and I'll keep on showing off all my nice boats I built. I'm going with red gold and black. Use old system Gallagher Kaiser stickers to finnish it off.

Moonie,
Regardless of what the others are saying, looks like first class workmanship. Really nice looking boat!

I had the same tunnel. I cut out the air dams and put in a defuser. I also put 5 pounds of lead in my boat. I have had it up to 70MPH at the SAW's. I have not ran it in a long time. But this is it. I built it back when we were using Nicads. I loaded it with 36 cells back then.

I have plans to rebuild the bottom and make a big hatch to make it easier to load cells.

Weight counteracts lift, the lower weight of LoPos may work against the OP. Running the prop deep can help reduce lift too. I wonder how the OP knows the boat runs mid-70s just fine when his boat has not yet run, but regardless the hydro looks great, hope it runs to the OP's expectations.

Whoa! What a fine looking hydro. Any boat that's scale and able to do 70+ is a treat Just to see in the water. Loving the bud bro.

It's for the canopy/hatch (old aeromarine e-z Lock to hold down the hatch).

Beautiful job!!! Definitely a lot of surface area, and wide transom, but the walls of the tunnel don't look that deep to me. Maybe it doesn't trap as much air as we think. Looking forward to the video.

In the video it looks to run very stable.
From the roster tail it looks to have some good speed in it.
We don't know the size of the oval you were running on, looks to be close to a 1/6th coarse, and you were doing 10 to 11 second laps.
Very nice :beerchug:

I know earlier you said 8S, what is the rest of your setup? Motor, ESC, etc.?
