I spoke to very good friend that works for Fidelity. They are going some house cleaning over there. 800 people last week and more to come this week. He's quite worried. As funny as the video is, in reality its hitting closer to home than I thought.

yea, stuff is gonna get worse...if GM falter, one part of me want them to fall, ford also, but another don't because of the innocent people. Ford and Gm have been robbing the American people for years, why don't they let the oil companies bail them out.

you really are retarded :confused1:

To help our economy you must first help American owned business. There are too many people, all too happy to send their money elsewhere. Ahh whatever, you will never change or care your mind.

Avanti your the variable retard, how many dayum times are we gonna be bailing out these companies, so they take our money(taxes) and still give us inferior product, every years we give these companies tax intensives, just to keep jobs for people to go back and spend the money they made back with the company that's manufacturing sh*t. But you have the mitigating audacity to talk about people socialism, I guess corporate socialism suits you fine. Won't you just stick a shunt in your neck so these vampire could just drain you. I tell you, you Rwinger are blinded by... I'll be kind.

But if it ain't about Guns and God, you guys just talk rhetorical regurgitation. But wait... delta and American will file for chapter 11 and your tax dollars will bail them out, they'll restructure, limit flight, stop serving you meals and raise the fares, but wait for 9.99 we'll sell you another cut back and raise your taxes some more... Save that crap for beaver.

If both of those companies fail, the US economy is done! Both employ so many peole both directly, and indirectly, that millions will be out of a job. Sometimes you just don't have a choice.

I can understand your response and like I said one part of me understands the life raft, But to say I'm retarded because I made a factual statement about the double crossing and milking of the American people by these companies.

And do you know why they can't sell it here (can't vs. don't)? Because the evironmental laws here to not allow it! Because of laws that the green-only folks lobbied their pawns to vote for. And who would those pawns be? The same ones that are preventing us from drilling in one of the most abundant areas under our domain, while our "friendly" opponents go ahead and drill nearby...

We all know how "progressive" Europe is - but that's not the case. America's ecology-minded laws in many ways work AGAINST us. Oh yes, the clean air and water is nice. It's nice in NZ too, and getting better as more and more people leave the country. Is that what they're trying to do here?

If Ford re-engineered the car to meet US EPA requirements, it would be down in the same 50 MPG range as the VW Rabbits we've had here for decades.

Wake up!

AndyThe VW's don't even meet EPA requirements they buy their cert. (I was in the diesel industry for 3 years).
Sadly it is more about money then clean air in some cases.

I feel for your friend, I lost my job on Friday due to a plant closure, 600+ people out of work.:ThumbsDown01:

I'm sitting at home now and updating my resume.:cursing:

Chop, let me know if you want some help. I got the word on Wed of last week and lost mine on last Friday. By last Thursday night, I had two offers for same or more money and by last Friday I had 4.

This is not tooting my own horn, merely wanted to offer my help if I could. :) And that goes for anyone, regardless of any conflict in the past.

Thanks Meniscus. If you know of a job that required knowledge of mechanical design, particularly in piping and pumps in a paper mill environment let me know. It has to be in Wisconsin and near Green Bay/Appleton. Okay, there was a bit of scarcasm there.

I've got some $ saved for an event like this and won't be too bad off if it's only for a short time.

My only request it that no one post for something to sell on the swap shop.
:tape:!!:sold::tape:!!!I have this weakness for small boats.

Thanks Avanti, the grass is always greener, we're gonna find it.

The mill was purchased by another company (we're talking about 100's of millions of dollars here), after 5 months the new company (NewPage Corp.) shut us and several other mills down. Their reasoning is that there is too much of the type of paper we produce on the market and simply wanted to remove some of the capacity from the equation.

They also claim is that certain Asian companies are flooding the market using illegal trade practices. Congress does not feel the need to investigate.

Another kick in the ass is that they won’t sell the mill – the buyer would simply start the machines up and put that tonnage of product back out there.

Rumor has it that it is only a move to break the union. When (President elect) Barack Obama was in town campaigning he promised that he would get the mill running again. Time will tell.

I recommend starting a business of some sort if you can, that way you are in control of your income.
check with your local SBA for help with this

not entirely true, but you will get farther if you put the business in your wife's name or at least name her 51% shareholder.

Hopefully one day people will wake up and start supporting american companies and not the foreign stuff we constantly get bombarded with. I still get amused when people try to say toyota's crap is american made. All they are doing is sending the money right to japan.

Just found out DHL is cutting 9500 jobs. My good buddy's been delivering for them for years. Him and other good people may be searching for new jobs soon. This economy is getting scarier by the minute!

This thread has gone 180 from a joke or funny link.
Something has to give sooner or later.
This is what happens when you rely on other nations and just kick back and play consumer for too long. We need to start taking care of business and supporting our own country. There are a lot of good products and good people that are going to vanish, as a result of not doing certain things for yourself. Even some of our defense contracts and farmed out to other countries, that is just scary.

disclaimer: This is my opinion, I am entitled to it. If you are offended, please don't respond to me, as I don't care. Simply state your opinion and move on.
