What a suprise...

There is very little one is going to be able to post here or report on that hasn't been warned about over and over again, and just as equally sluffed off as "non-sense" by those on the Left...

Welcome to the next 4-years.

Perhaps we can get into a logical discussion as to just HOW the Government controlling our retirement is going to be such a benefit... especially seeing as how they've done such a tremendous job with Social Security...

I say we just keep an eye on things, but spend our time enjoying our hobby while we still can afford it... rather than worrying too much about this stuff... at least until it's time to stand up and fight to get the country back in line...

this already has me thinking about pulling my money out of the market so those bastards can't get it. And they wonder why the market keeps falling.

I am about done with this. I am already taxed to death and get SH%T in return.
If they plan on touching my 401k, they have another thing coming. Do they really want to start a revolution????? I am about ready. I man can only take so much.

Welcome to the United Socialist America

You might be too late. I went to Cabellas today to pick up a Taurus I had on hold, and they were almost picked clean. I was just there a week ago to put this one on hold, and now the gun cases are half empty. The people in the gun shop say they have never seen something like this. I'm glad I picked up my new ones early!!

Actually No, it's not... but the Stock market, employment, and the Economy in general IS... Namely from fear over this new administration if you believe the financial experts on MSNBC, CNN, ABC, etc...

Denial is a blissful place to be, eh Ghost...

I hope the Left is right about all this... History IS repeating itself, that is clear. maybe there will be enough people with their O-Blinders off to help alter it's course before things get worse...

Again, lots of links posted yet it appears nobody reads them.

The link from the Carolina Journal noted that a person testifying in a committee suggested the confiscation of 401's. That is a FAR cry from saying that the Congress is considering it. The samne article then went on to quote:

Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., chairman of the House Committee on Education and Labor, in prepared remarks for the hearing on “The Impact of the Financial Crisis on Workers’ Retirement Security,” blamed Wall Street for the financial crisis and said his committee will “strengthen and protect Americans’ 401(k)s, pensions, and other retirement plans” and the “Democratic Congress will continue to conduct this much-needed oversight on behalf of the American people.”

So the title of the article was inflammatory and misleading. And people stopped reading at the title.

Good research job!!

Further, the Chairman of the Committee was asked by Fox News' Cavuto about 401's and here is what was said:

After repeated questions asked by Neil Cavuto of Fox News, Miller said he would not be in favor of “killing the 401(k)” or of “killing the tax advantages for 401(k)s.”

Congress hears all kinds of crazy things being said in their hearings, but that does not mean that each and every thing said by a person is "being considered".

Oh well.

Why did it take "repeated" questions, Bill. Perhaps because somebody doesn't want to take a stand? Or maybe he's looking for a way to lie and get away with it?

Bill you have to agree that there are some scary ideas being floated around. I don't think I have ever seen so many people nervous about a incoming president. Have you?

He Steven... Guess where Rahm Emanuel, Obama's new Chief of Staff, was during the book-cooking scandal at Freddie Mac???

Emanuel held a seat on the quasi-governmental Freddie Mac board, which paid him $231,655 in director’s fees in 2001 and $31,060 in 2000. During the time Emanuel spent on the board, Freddie Mac was plagued with scandals involving campaign contributions and accounting irregularities.

I'm sure it was just one of a number of "coincidental" relationships that we should just sluff off...

It's going to be a blast watching the "mainstream" media over the next few years... :popcorn2: Other than Chris Mathews (you Libs should be VERY proud of that one... :blah: :blah:), they are already starting to question and say the same things we, and Bill O'Rielly, Glenn Beck, Laura Ingram, Savage, etc., have been saying for months...

I guess Libs a just a little slower to catch on...

YUP... Change is definately happening in Washington... Change... Yup... Change... Hope and Change... Well... we DO have a fresh new face at President... I guess that counts... That's ONE!

Well, crazy ideas float around all the time. Keep in mind that the GOP was all hot to privatize our social security system. You know, give it over to the rat ba$tards that just bankrupted Wall Street.

And yes, I do recall when the OTHER half of the country was scared out of their minds about an incoming President. Dubya was not welcomed with open arms and sadly he has proven to not have been up to the task. I am optimistic that Obama is. Let's hope that you guys are wrong and that I am right on this one.

Give me a break. Read the testimony. It is CRYSTAL clear that this was a person floating her pet idea. It in no way means that there was "consideration" being given. Congress hears all kinds of crazy testimony, but I have to wonder why it seems that the right is so quick to latch onto things that they can use to keep the fires stoked about being "worried" about the Democrats.

Honestly, I cannot believe that most Republicans are that stupid, but the leadership and the right wing press sure acts like you are.

Oh well. We've got 4 years for the new guy to show us what he can do. And then if he blows it, we vote a new guy in (or a new woman). That is the beauty of our system.

The change we really need will never be done with the current system, no matter which guy got in. We need more accountability for these government and white collar ceo's. We need campaign reform. Why should one person have more campaign money then the other? We also need to handle the illegal alien problem. Thats never been addressed by either side to my liking. Things will remain the same or unfortunately for all of us get worse.

Obama did a very smart(dishonest thing in my opinion). He gauged the country and split them into classes. His $250k number was used to make sure that he had spoken to the majority of the country. The majority of the country is making less than $250k per year. Than he told that group that they would be getting a free lunch under his watch. Now they are all waiting for it.

Bill judging by some of the boats you own you are doing well for yourself. I commend you and your hard work. How much are you willing to give back in 2009 and on? Thats an easy figure for me persoannly to come up with really. For example. How much did you give to charity in 2008? If you gave 2k to charity last year and in 2009 your taxes raise by $2k, will you give the same amount to charity in 2009? I know I can't afford to do both! That means one thing. The government will get more money to decide what THEY want to do with it and the causes/people we all feel for in our hearts will get less. Sad!

You obviously have NO idea what it takes to be invited to testify before a Congressional committee...
