I purchased the upgrade strut and the .187 upgrade flex shaft for my blackjack 29 v3, can I use the 9/32 brass tubing with the .187 Teflon liner or do i have to use the 1/4 tubing without the liner? Is there enough material to mill the strut or tubing for fitment of the 9/32?

for a 3/16" (.187) flexshaft use 9/32" tube w/ .187 liner or 1/4" tube w/o liner. Seems like a lot of work to replace the 1/4" tube already in the hull. I would just pull the teflon liner and run the .187 OSE shaft that way. Looking at the strut on my V3, the nose cone tapers down from 11/32" OD to just a hair over 1/4", so you could probably modify the strut if you felt inclined to go the difficult road.

The bare shaft on brass tube won't produce too much heat to cause a shaft failure?

Not if the cable is well greased every run and the motor is aligned perfectly with the stuffing tube. I have 5 boats they all run 3/16 cables with no liners

Just remove the Teflon liner and run the 3/16th/.187 shaft on the stock tube. Been doing this for over a year at speeds of nearly 80mph on GPS....
