Good ever I got guys.

Unfortunately my castle 220 ESC burnt up today. It was used but luckily everything else survived. I need help finding a good replacement. I am running 4s in parallel with a neu 2500kv. Thank so in advance.

We need more info:

- exactly what boat
- exactly what motor
- exactly what packs
- what use: zip zip, SAW runs, oval racing, etc.
- how much are you willing to spend?

With more info we can give you better recommendations.

I am running a Rico 33" mono
Oval racing
Nano tech 5000mah 5.0 (if there is a better option let me know)
Boat was bought with motor but it appears to be a neu 1527.
Price is not an issue as I want to be able to have good reliability.
I run gas in my district and am new to electric so I'm like a sponge with taking in information.
Just started getting electric going in our district. I actually had to run with 20 monos this weekend but have no one really has the knowledge in electric. A few guys have some boats on order.

There pretty darned expensive to be honest. Shipping alone is nutty. I don't think anybody actually stocks them state side.

TS Davis, wouldn't MGM 280/26 be a better option, or do you like the 25035's better?

T.S.Davis

Probably would. Might be a little cheaper too. The 35 is just handy if you build another boat that wants more battery later.

MGM controllers and Neu motors do not always work well together. Especially Delta wind motors.

Ok. I'm new to electric so any suggestions would be appreciated

So then Swordfish 220 probably would be good... (The Swordfish 300 Lite would probably would be too big... forgot it's only 33")

Guys... where are the SF220's with the 300amp burst? Or are they the same thing...

The 240 has the 300 burst.

Tyler, can you elaborate on this some? I'm not doubting your knowledge in any way. I was just thinking that if you can describe the conflict maybe we can find a setting that offsets the hiccups.

I remember back in the day there were certain motors that a Schulze just refused to play nice with.

Terry,

I have tested a lot of combos with various motors and controllers. Many of these I tested on multiple occasions trying to figure out if it was a fluke.

This has a lot to due with the low inductance of some motors and whether the motor is 2 pole vs 4 pole.

We have all known the Old or new Schulzes work well with LMT motors. The same is mostly true for MGM controllers. I say this because MGM is a preferred vendors of LMT and I know for a fact they have optimized their software for LMT motors. This is not to say the MGM's will not work on Neu's, but i have had a string of failed motors or poor performance in what would be a perfectly viable set-up (not SAW in other words).

Specifically, I had a 28026, 25063 and a 40063 all current limit heavily with a Neu 1527 1D. All three controllers did the same with a 1515 1.5D and a 1521 1.5D.
I had a 40063 completely demag a 2215 in 30 seconds. Worked fine with s Schulze after the rotor was replaced. The same 40063 works fine with a Castle 2028.

In the end I stopped using Neu motors and MGM controllers together. I always ran into current limiting or heating issues. I did one test with 12 different settings in back to back tests trying to figure out an solution, but all ended with current limiting.

So LMT with MGM/Schulze/Castle controllers all work fine. If possible I would test run a MGM against another known good controller like a T-180 to make sure you get the same performance.

Tyler, aren't there firmware mods for turning off amp/temp limiters for the 28026 ? MGM mentioned something a while back in regards to making some sort of RACE MODE firmware update.

Tyler, btw... Since you're saying the MGM's are designed to work best with LMT's.

Would you say MGM's are typically more efficient and show better overall performance when they are used with LMT's than most other budget ESC's like HK180's, Swordfish, etc?

To answer the op's question. I've had good luck with the newer swordfish 240 that's silicon coated. The 220 is decent too but it's not 20 amps less of the level of the 240 if you know what I mean. The 240 is a good bit more robust. The seaking/turnigy 180 would be a good choice too but only if your not abusing the boat (over propping, running wet etc). If you have the boat dialed in well the 180 or 220 will serve you well. I'd lean more towards the 180 because I prefer the castle like throttle response.

kfxguy, What do you think of the 280-26's ? Does it take a beating (amp wise) ?

I'm a sucker for flashy branding and graphics ;D
gotta admit their site's web design looks sweet!

I've only run a 25035. I burned it up but it was the motor that took it out. It seemed to work well. I have two more but haven't decidecwhat they are going in.

Do these work well for a neu motor? If so I need 1 for a 1/8 scale hydro 10 s how much shipped to NY?

yes, they work very well on the Neu 1527 1.5y on 10s. That is what I was running it on before I switched over to a lehner 2280. I can get some pricing together for you. You will also need the usb cable and connector.

Do any of you guys know if theres any sort of hardware differences between the Lite and the Regular versions of the 28026-3 MGM ?

It's a $60+ difference in price so just curious if it's anything besides differences in firmware features...

Is it possible to completely disable (or increase) the Current Limiter and "Temperature fuse" in either one of those versions?
