A friend and I both bought revolts this spring. And after running in stock form we decided we wanted more...
So after getting some great ideas and support from the members here, I dove into the rebuilds.

First thing was to strip out the stock battery tray for a Carbon inlay.
Scuffed it up well with 40 grit sand paper

On one of them I left the original motor mount in play.

I painted the exposed FG areas to make it look cleaner.

Dual Carbon battery trays were installed.
Later we decided to add a center tray to allow for a single 4s pack to be used.

First boat all buttoned up with a new Castle 1512 2650kV and a T120 esc with extra cap bank.

Now on the second one I was inspired to go further. I removed the battery tray and motor mount and stuffing tube to do a more complete Carbon inlay.
Stuffing tube was easily removed by heating it first using a soldering iron and then carefully twisting and pulling it out with a pair of pliers while still hot.

And one piece inlay. Pretty happy with the turn out.

I had one big mess on the Carbon behind the servo mount. In retrospect I should have removed the mount first. Next time.
Fortunately it is not too visible.

Next comes a custom motor mount. It lowers the motor a few mm versus the stock mount and looks much better. Big shout out to KFXguy for hooking me up with the mount!

I started to try to eyeball align mount and stuffing tube with just a piece of aluminum tubing in the brass to the motor shaft.

I was advised to just use the motor collet and a piece of flex to get a perfect alignment. I made a temporary aluminum bushing to hold the flex in the center of the stuffing tub. Work very well!
I tacked the mount in with JBQuick. And the stuffing tube with 30min epoxy and chopped glass

After it set, I removed motor and finished the JBQuick job in the motor mount side rails.

Next I reinstalled motor with the same alignment technique to aid in the installation of my stuffing tube support.

Checking alignment often I finally glued in the tube support with JBQuick as well.

A single battery tray was used in this build. I trimmed the sides of the Carbon OSE tray to allow it to sit as low as possible.

I shortened up the motor wires as much as possible too.

Upgraded servo was installed and a little functional bling was added to the bow

Really awesome work! Very nice attention to detail. One suggestion I want to throw in is to use some black dye for your jb weld so your joints look black and blend with the carbon. White stands out like a sore thumb in this case. You can still cover those up later too. Other than that, your work is very clean!

Thank you for the kind words! The Dye is a great idea and would be a step saver too as I went back later with black paint and covered up the white epoxy to make it blend better. Thanks for the Tip!!

No problem, you can find it on ebay if you look for paint dye or epoxy dye. Painting the welds is not a good idea because the paint will flake off later. Don't put epoxy over that paint because it will just chip. It would need to be sanded down again.

Nice job, I hope to learn how to do CF inlay this coming winter. What did you use, West Systems?

I want to get a West Systems setup one day myself. But for this inlay I bought this kit.

It came highly recommend and I am happy with it as well.

After maidens where complete and some dialing in performed, we saw speeds in the low 50s with excellent handling (this coming from a newbie mind you). I am pleased with them.
Prop of choice so far is an X440.
I plan to test more in the coming weeks.

Temps were mostly acceptable. Running 4+minutes all out.
The one area for improvement is with the capbank. It was getting hotter than I am comfortable with. I am planning to increase the size to 6 caps and shorten the esc and battery leads as much as I can and retest.
And hopefully get some good video of them to share as well.

Maybe it's the dye I'm using but every time I've tried to dye jb weld, the dye weakens it significantly and makes it more rubbery. I'm using a epoxy dye. I've had good results with graphite powder however.

Nice work too!

You know I think I do have a tube of graphite somewhere in my shop. I will give that a try.

Thanks! It's rated for 120amp. So That would be 1824 watts on 4s. I believe.....

I've had success dyeing epoxy using a drop or 2 of black acrylic paint for a really small batch. Also have dyed JB plastic weld using same technique
