John,
I'm pretty sure you need to be a member of NAMBA and maybe even our club MMEU, just to practice. This is due to the provided NAMBA insurance and meeting the requirements of the permit from Shelby Twp. We will need one of our Core Members to check in on that to confirm. The main 2 guys you want to speak with regarding membership are Terry Davis or Tom Castallani.

Our club races 1 Sunday each month, but we do not run any classes that a Spartan fits within.

Here are links to the NAMBA web site, NAMBA rule book, club race dates, club thread which shows the classes we are running this year, and RC Race Events which is where you can sign up to race once you are a member of NAMBA and MMEU.

You will currently see events for Michigan Cup Day #1, Day #2 and Day #3. This is an awesome 3 day event in Leonard at the Elks Lodge. Racers come from all over the country and even Canada.

You can research the NAMBA rule book to see what size/types boats fit the different classes we run, or feel free to ask away here in the forum, but the best way to pick up a lot of good information is to stop by a practice day or race day.

Wish you would have visited us before making your Spartan purchase, we could have directed you to some other boats which would fit within some club race events.

Shame you keep buying things that don't fit within any of our race classes.

Go buy an Aquacraft - Lucas Oil or Motley Crew or Revolt 30.
Or even a Proboat - Miss Geico 29 or Blackjack 29 or Impulse 31.

Hi John, I am one of the core members and I live near 17 and Van Dyke. If you need some info on racing with us my suggestion would be to first come out to the pond next Saturday July the 2nd and talk to one of us out there. Our small pond will not allow us to race most of the larger classes of boats. Before you invest time and money into a hull that you can't race, talk to us.

What class boat are you interested in racing? Are you looking for ready to run or do you have building skills?

Our club classes that race every club race are: P-Limited Offshore, P-Limited Mono, P-Limited Catamaran, P-Limited Sport Hydro, P-Sport Hydro and SV-27. We also race one additional class depending on signups. This week we will not be at the pond on Wednesday as we traditionally don't practice the Wednesday after a race.

Looking Forward to meeting you.
