Gents,

So yesterday I started making the linkage wires to steer my rudder on my 32" mono. I had purchased 2 used Airtronics servos on the board. I wanted them because they had ball bearings, metal gears, and higher torque.

I pulled each apart and treated them with Corrosion X and marine greased the cases to help weather proof. They both tested good on the bench as far as movement, no jitters.

Last night I hooked up the servo arm and linkage to the rudder. Plugged everything in, Traxxas RX and TX, Seaking 180 V2 and a 3s pack. Servo was working well, I started checking the throw left and right. The servo locked up and now I get nothing. Tested the second one without anything hooked up to it, seems good.

Did I burn it up or something? Just the dice I rolled buying used servos?

Did you take the servo apart -- maybe the gears locked up?

Took the entire servo apart, it doesn't even respond now, gears all move free, seems like the servo motor on the bottom quit.

Did you test it with a different RX, different receiver battery, or check the servo plug to make sure the connectors have good contact

That's a good idea, I can try with my son's boat.

First servo is completely dead on whatever I tried it on. Second one is working smoothly. Is there a way to replace the servo motor? Hate to loose a nice case with all metal hardware and ball bearings.

Don't think that anyone offers the motor alone, it may be tough to replace without excellent soldering skills. Keep the broken one for parts. Looks like you lost on the roulette wheel of buying used electronics.
