Prop shaft to flex cable - solder vs epoxy/loctite

What is the preferred method of joining a prop shaft to a flex cable - soldering it or using epoxy/loctite ?

Both work fine if done right, I have done way more silver solder in the over the years, but only use Loctite now, it is easier and there is no risk of softening your shaft/stub. I have never had a joint I have done with either method fail, in my experience the joint is stronger than the flex or wire and it will break elsewhere. I have never heard of anyone using epoxy, I use Loctite 603 at home which is nice and thin for ease of use but takes a long time to reach full strength, and carry 638 in my field bag, which is much thicker and can be a PITA to use with hydraulicing, but will set between heats if you snap a shaft.

How do you get a 3/16 OD flex cable into a 3/16 OD shaft? If by milling it sown, how do you do that?

I have heard that you cut the outer winding off with a dremmel then solder the inner into a .150 hole, (silver solder not loctite as the outer later only has a butt joint with very little surface area, I can't say I have ever done it, it looks like a bad idea to me, if I want to throw more power at something than .150 will handle I will use a wire.

You shouldn't be getting through flexies that quickly. Do you have a bend rather than a curve in your stuffing tube, or a misalignemt at one end? Are you either running teflon or greasing it before every run? Are you removing the flex drying it and oiling it after your day's running?
