Did you guys get a chance to run today (1/11)? What times do you normally run on the two Sunday's a month?

I just got back into RC boating. Been doing 1/10 off road for awhile (just bashing) and occasionally fly with my dad down off of 69th St. E near Buffalo Creek Middle School. I have been into RC since I was a kid. Back in September 2015 my dad got our old 40" Wardcraft Deep Vee down out of the attic. He was going to give it away but I grabbed it, repainted it and converted it from nitro to FE. It is no where near what you guys appear to be running, but on its maiden voyage it was fast enough for me on half throttle. It still needs some setup work done to it I'm sure but it was pretty exciting.

I live up in Tampa near downtown and will probably be running it in saltwater (I know, corrosive). It took awhile to get it cleaned up after the first run, but not too bad. I sprayed the heck out of the drive train with Corrosion X after rinsing everything in fresh water. Hopefully this will be enough to keep it clean.

Anyway, just been lurking on your threads trying to see what's up. The pics of your boats on your website are very impressive.

Take care,

Matt

I will be next week. How about club dues when are they due

Rich, I believe we need to have a club meeting to discuss club dues. I know it is difficult when everything is due at one time. As well, we didn't get to run a lot in the later half of last year, so most folks are wondering what they paid for last year. I think we should move club dues renewal to June, but we should discuss it as a group.

A bit of news for those willing to travel. The speed control restrictions for IMPBA D13 (Atlanta) have been eliminated for the P-Ltd classes. Any speedo is now permitted. Next D13 race is in southern Georgia (Sowega model boaters) the end of February.

Ray what are the rules for p-Sport hydro. What motor.

Rich,

What Larry said. I think this class is really going to take off. There are now motors and speedo's available for little more money than a P-Ltd setup allowing the use of a larger 34" boat. Faster, more reliable, fewer blow overs.

With one caveat: Unless it is overtaken by Q-Sport Hydro, which is even more reliable (less amp draw) and more stable (bigger boat).

In order to run boats at your club, do you have to have a boat that fits into a certain "class?" Is one of the Sunday's a "race" day and the other a "test & tune" day? How serious are the races? I guess I'm asking about the culture of the club; is it a group of like-minded guys getting together to have fun running boats or is it really serious racing club with guys trying to qualify for district/regional/national type events?

I have a 40" deep vee running 10s with a Leopard 4092 930kv Motor. What "class" would this be in (if any)?

Thanks,
Matt

With 10s that would be a "T mono" but your hull is actually more of a Q class in length. S/T boats can be up to 60"

Hi Matt,

we are mostly a group of like minded guys who get together to run for fun. Not too serious on race day, and yes, one weekend is fun running, the second sunday is for racing. A 10s boat will have a difficult time "stretching it's legs" on our smallish 1/8th mile course

please come on over and check it out!

If you don't charge above 4.2 per cell nobody should complain. Unless you happen to be at a NAMBA event, then it might get you a DQ.

RayR
03-01-2016, 02:59 PM
What Bill said, even at a NAMBA event there is no problem if you do not charge over 4.2V.

TRUCKPULL
03-01-2016, 03:30 PM
You have to have a charger that is able to adjust the MAX voltage.

Most chargers when set to 4S will max out a 16.8 Volts

At the NAMBA race in MI. last year, they were periodically checking max voltage per cell when people were getting ready to tape up.

I got mine here from OSE;

In the new righting of the NAMBA rules;
MAX for any individual cell is 4.230 volts

If any cell in your pack measures 4.231 you are DQ.

NAMBA rules-

That Hull would have to run Offshore seeing that the hull is stepped.
With 10s 2p onboard it would run is "T" class

A lot of race clubs run "S" & "T" together or call it open Offshore.

Offshore is a 4 min. race with a full lap mill so plan on running at least 4 1/2 min.

"S" & "T" class boats are allowed 12,000 m Amps on board.

NO boat will be more than 35lb. ready to run, or over 60" in hull length.

Hey Larry,
Mark and Dan (new club member) did some LSO testing. Several flips but landed right side up with the wind. I think Ray only had to use the rescue boat 3 times.

When the cost for the website exceed $125/yr several years ago, we gave it up.
