Thanks for sharing!!

Capnswanny...this will be our entry level boat face turmoil we are facing here downsouth(Brazil).....I only built the hull...electronics was borrowed from fast friends as an attemp to keep r/c boating activities alive as for us with the change in the clouds.i.e. dollar versus real....even cheap hardware can be a problem for many interested guys....hope everything goes true for this part of the world.
Thanks for the kind words.

Hey Gill check out that little red rigger with a little 28mm turnigy motor

Nice red rigger. in my case the club decided for an entry level boat for novices/beginners to only run 3S boats so the top speed for a heat boat is adequate for these guys.

Thanks Mxkid...ready to run about 1,3 kg with a 5.0A bat.In this case I also swapt the previous 120Aesc to a T-180V3....prop is a stock X438!

Thanks guys from now on things will go quick.Half of the molds ready...tomorrow the schedule is to start the other side if mother nature helps...epoxy really dislikes temps below 17C so I have a heater in the workshop to keep temp controlled.

Gill,

So right now you are making the mold which you will lay the fiberglass in to create the sponsons and main body correct? With those molds you can make as many parts as you want to layup correct?

Thanks Travis...this is the only way I,ve learned to make trusty molds...takes time but really pays off.Ken you are correct these molds are for high production,,even not being my case...but I have a dozen hulls to build as we will start this class in our club.actually this boat will be a 4S P limited rigger.here some more progress.

Forgot to post the fiber reinforcement in the tub and sponsons. Two 1" fiberribbons plus one 1/2" in the tub and two 1/2"in the sponsons.

Hi Gil,
Have you given any thought to selling these boats. You've made such beautiful molds, it seems a shame not to share them with your fellow boaters.

Bob

Hi Bob all my models are sold locally not outside due to our very high rated shipping cost but once in a while if a foreign fellow agrees with the shipping cost boats are sent to their destiny....anyway thanks for your compliment.

Gill do you find that on riggers in general their is any advantage in speeds with a thinner wedge rudder over a thicker wedge rudder ? . Thinner rudder made from steel to stop it bending, or does a thicker wedge have less drag than a thinner wedge. Thanks Martin.

Your rigger reminds me of the Keps rigger. Small and thin. Love it! I love your builds Gil. I would buy your builds if you offered them like Bob mentioned.

Thanks a lot fellas..what I would do is move to the north hemisphere where most of my family lives..who knows....Martin I 've been trying all sort of rudder blades for oval and sincerely the difference is not measurable at least on my boats....speedmaster rudders are my first option cause they are thinner than the china ones but again I can't say too much about difference on speeds.About steel blades I tried years ago on my very first Jae and speed was almost the same than with a TFL rudder....in the other hand you will find out a big difference on SAW (+5 mph) with the same set up.Gill

We are working with our post office to reduce shipping cost for years.......I've heard that with the new politics it can be some light at the end of the tunnel.

martin
10-13-2016, 01:43 PM
Gill I assume the +5mph on the saw rigger was with the thinner wedge rudder.

grsboats
10-13-2016, 03:04 PM
Martin correct...years ago I used to call Speedmaster to get customized rudder blades for SAW.....thinner but high quality....still have some ones.
