Hello, I am new here and recently picked up my first brushless electric boat..I picked up a Pro-Boat Formula fastech brushless..The stock motor esc setup has been real nice..I am running 2 7.4 lipos in it and it rips..I just picked up a 7XL Brushless 2370KV Marine motor and Castle HYDRA24 Watercooled 240 ESC.. I plan on using these electronics in my fastech for now..I plan on running 4s or 5s..What would be the best prop for me to run. I was also considering wiring the stock esc for now in series...What are your opinions on this setup as well..Any information would be great. Below are some pics of my boat and a video of the boat with the stock ESC?motor on some 7.4 lipos.....Thanks..

Very nice pictures! I would start with a octura x440 or graupner 2317.40 and work upwards from there with testing.

Is this hull made of ABS or Plastic, or is it a glass hull?? Might be interesting to see how this would do in an LSO class... Sure looks pretty on the water. Looks like it scoots...

Thanks for the info..The hull is made of Fiberglass composite..

I have a change of plans..I am going to keep this boat stock and instead I picked up Avanti27offshore's 33" DF type mono hull..http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?t=5117 What do you guys think...Thanks

Justin

Sounds like a plan. But I wouldn't run the 7xl in that size boat. Depending on the battery power I would run between a 9xl and 12xl.

Right now since i have the motor I plan on running it.. I plan on using one 4s at first and then dropping my 2 4s 5000mah wired in Parrnell into it. OZf course i will be checking the temps....What are your thoughts..

From watching the vids, you are running backwards. Races run clockwise.
The FASTech turns better to the right at full speed anyway. I'm sure you have figured that out already.

I'm a pretty conservative guy, I wouldn't attempt that unless I had plenty of money to buy a new esc. If the esc does hold out, you will most likely burn up the motor. The only way I would consider it, was if I was just going to run a quick short pass for a speed record.

You are exactly right..I learned that later in the day..It is a pretty noticeable difference as well..:rockon2:

Are you running the stock prop, etc., in those videos??

Looks like it. Thats what mine looks like on the stock prop.

So... what's the overall impression of this boat... Does it handle well? Would it hold up to racing use?? How does it perform compared to an SV27??

It would appear that it might handle better than an SV, and should be capable of simliar speeds with that motor package... maybe even a tad faster...

Would be interested to know this info...

I don't think if it would make a good race boat. It handles well in calm water, but is a handful to turn in chop at full speed. I think it handles a lot better than the sv and doesn't flip nearly as easy. My buddy has the sv and it flips in the straights sometimes.
The hull is kinda strange. It has a flat ride pad from about half way to the back of the hull. It might make an ok first race boat, but I don't think thats what your looking for Darin.

If anyone has any good pics of the bottom and some of the details of this hull, I'd love to see them...

Not looking for me... I'm considering whether or not this would be something to recommend to someone new who wants to get involved in Racing as a starter package...

Being composite, that's a good start...

I think it would be a great starter package. Hang on and I'll get some pics.

I will get some pictures up soon..I am loving the boat..I run it in a very calm pond which you can see in the vids..It is a great club spec class race boat...:iagree::rockon2:

Thanks... I'm not sure it's even considered a NAMBA legal Mono hull... that big wide flat section in the back would be considered a 'strake' at it looks like it exceeds the limits for this...

HOWEVER, for LSO, it doesn't HAVE to be a legal "Mono"... Cats and Stepped hulls are allowed as well... so I think it would fit there...

Also... It's not quite a "surface drive"... semi-submerged from the looks of it... That'd limit it's speed potential some...
