Just before I place an order just wanted to check if 30C lipos are ok for a stock boat.

I intend to run 4s2p.

Was looking at some Turnigy 4s 3300mah 30C lipos on Hobbyking.

The maths states that even with a discharge rate of 20C per lipo I could theoretically pull 132 amps continuous because of the parallel connection.

Will this be adequate for the Blackjack?

The other packs I was considering were Zippy Compacts, 3700mah, 35C but they are a bit more expensive.

Yeah they should be fine
Dunno the price, but buddy rc has glacier 45c 3300 packs for 50 bucks. Probably better than Turnigy imo

Good luck!

Thanks for confirming.

I can't really use buddy rc as I'm in the UK but Hobbyking has UK and German warehouses.

Btw, what runtime could I expect from 6600mah?

Gotcha.

It depends how you drive it.
Maybe 3-4 minutes

Have you looked at www.revolectrix.com they are about the same price but far better quality. They are in Singapore so shipping should be no problem. A 4000 40c 4s is 51 bucks.

Edit. The black label 3400 30c are $36.86. Only a few bucks more than the turdnigy batteries. http://www.store.revolectrix.com/Products/BLACK-label-LiPO-batteries/Revolectrix-3400mAh-4S-Lipo-Black-Label

They look good but I'd still rather purchase within the UK in case anything needs to be returned etc.

Btw, is a total weight of 932g of batteries too much for the BJ29? I ask because I've seen some 4500mah lipos which would fit quite nicely in the hull but are a bit heavier than the other lipos I mentioned above.

Revolectrix are available in the UK from revolectrix.co.uk. They stock the Platinum & Diamond ranges.

A fair bit more expensive though especially after I've bought 4 of them.

On the subject of lipos how are you all securing them in the boat? Using the supplied velcro straps seems a bit awkward so I thought about doing away with them and using self adhesive velcro strips. Is this ok?

It's ok until you flip the boat then they become projectiles and knock your hatch off. In short, no. Lol

Well I don't particularly want projectiles in the boat!!

I've looked at it again now and repositioned some of the straps to make them easier to secure. I might fit the self adhesive velcro anyway for a bit of extra security.

I hated the stock straps on the V3 so I replaced them with double sided velcro. Works much better.
