Guys, this boat is really amazing and super stable. Had a chance to get a good deal on the v2 of this boat but opted for the v3 and really glad I did. The new hull design is super strong and well built. The fiberglass is def legit and doesn't feel weak by any means. I started with 2 2s lipos 5200 mah 30c and the boat was fun but rather tame in a flat pond. Was fun the first few times but decided to invest in 2 3s lipos 5000mah 50c and give it a try. What a difference! I also just upgraded my prop to an Octura m440 sharpened and balanced. Just an amazing step up from the stock prop which was already decent. The Octura kicks up a sweet tail and I clocked it this afternoon at 58.6mph! 2000kv motor and 120 amp ESC slightly warm but not hot at all. Great job Proboat, this is a really funny boat to race!

Thanks for your review, I'm new to R/c boating and have been thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these. One ? here is 2000kv motor turning to many RPMs with 6s

Here's a pic. Trying to figure out how to upload a video of 6s at 58.6mph

Here's a video of me running 6s on my Blackjack29 v3. Sorry the quality isn't great.

just my 2 cents : it needs some work
look and listen at the moments it starts to get some speed

This video was still with the stock prop. I haven't been able to upload one yet with my Octura m440 S and B. What other things do you recommend to correct?

I just got a bj v3 as my first boat, and I couldn't get that porpoise out to save my life! multiple strut and COG adjustments. went through an entire roll of electrical tape in a few hrs.

sharpened and balanced a x642, and it was a different boat! However I think a 642 is to much for my setup, it was incredible the difference in the short time I ran it. im working on a x440 now.

Awesome! Ya my M440 S&B made a difference over the stock prop. Maybe a tad less acceleration but top speed def picked up (like a rocket on 6s) and it's super smooth. Motor and Esc were warm but not hot. If you experience anything else please share, thanks!

Do you have video of the 58mph?

Not yet. I will upload over the weekend running the m440 S&B prop on 6s and 58 mph. Thought I had one saved on my iPhone but they were all videos running the stock prop.

I'm putting a x640 on mine but living in mi. Won't know result till spring. Just tad more total pitch with less diameter.

Is be curious as to what a x640 would do. X642 seemed like I couldn't get the rpm I wanted so be careful w it.

Luv2fly- where are you setting your strut? It seemed like w my factory prop I had to run the strut about 1mm above the hull and -1degree down just to keep proposing minimal. But with that setup holeshot was terrible and it would cavitate bad until the boat planed. Even in a moderate turn the prop would slip.

The x642 was awesome w identicle strut setting. Holeshot, turning, stability. Very little cavitation if any.

I haven't made any changes to the strut. All still in their factory set positions. I'd be open to ideas though if you guys think a change might help. Sorry I'm just getting into this so still learning.

There's a strut mod thread on a thread here. It helped me drastically. You file out the top 1/3 of the strut slot so you can raise the strut and also achieve a neutral to slightly negative prop angle. I have my strut a hair above the bottom of the hull if I set the boat on a level surface w less then 1 degree of negative angle. This is my first go round too so I'm sure a vet will correct me or add insight. But it helped me heaps!

Strut flat 1/8 up prather 215 is same as stock Darin s &b 215 worth 3mph and ya will watch temps first time out 4s x 640 move to x440 6s and no should not have to move strut . For prop change .

Hi, have you compare this with the geico or blackjack v2 before?
I had a geico 29 stock running on 6s with bigger esc, this hull do not handle the 6s power, 5s was great and it didnt blow over, on 6s the boat just flips over and get cracks.

I wonder how mutch more stabile a stock blackjack v3 is vs the geico/blackjack v2?
Could it handle the 6s speed without bump to high or easy blow over?
If it is stabile i want one :-) Just wait for the dealer in my country to get it in stock
Also heard that the hull is ticker?

Nice of proboat to finaly make bigger esc :)
But i dont trust that it 6s ready, ok the electronic is that but what about the hull?
The blackjack v2 was also 6s ready but it's not.
How big is the flex shaft? Same as the v2?
