Here is the new GSX380 sport 40 size 38" sport hydro I have been working on the last few months. I am posing the build thread from IW here...Below is the build! Enjoy, Mike

Well, I finally finished up a rash of customers builds last month and decided to make some headway on a new prototype sport 40 hull I have been working on over the last 6 months. This is the prototype of the FE version, and a nitro version has been designed as well. I already have some small changes to the FE kit I will be doing, and a few larger changes to the nitro design will be done soon before I feel its ready to push forward. Anthony Marquart has done some really cool driveline changes in 3d with the nitro center that will be incorporated as soon as I have time to sit down and make them. He also did a cowling in 3d which I will most likely have cut via CNC in the near future. For now, I made a quick cowling plug and mold to test this hull with. The FE vs. Nitro versions have specifically placed engine rails and crossmembers so the engine and/or motor/batteries are in optimal position. This kit also incorporates a truss system center section framing like the GSX480 gas sport, allowing for a much wider engine well opening, and weight reduction, but an extremely strong core. The sponsons are also a totally new design vs the GP/SX sport hydros currently offered. The ride surface is closer to the GSX480 gas sport, and the dowel rod support system forces the sponson to center bond to be only at a 90 degree angle to each other. No more second guessing if you have joined the sponsons to the center correctly! The front ram entrance of the center section is now a solid half cut dowel rod instead of layered ply, making its installation a breeze. This hull is 38" in length and seems like it will be very light weight once complete.

While the GP and SX sport 40 hulls have been doing really really well in the racing world, I am always looking to do something new and hopefully better. I am really pleased with how this hull is coming along, and it looks really really good! If it works out, a 31" sport 20 has already been designed and ready to get cut and test. Here are some pics as I have moved along with the build. Mike Luszcz, ML Boatworks

Cowl is fitted. Now its time to bond the sponsons to the center, and deck them.

Here is where I am now. Got the top decks on, just have to sand the outside edge flush, then the exterior of the hull is ready for epoxy.

I also want to say this was the easiest sport hydro build I have ever done. I usually dread the sponson top decks (hense the delay), but these things were SO easy to install..just a few of those harbor freight clamps, and some tape, and they went on perfect!

Enjoy, Mike

I also want to say that now the sponson decks are on, this hull is EXTREMELY rigid. There is NO center section twist!

Mike,

Great looking boat!! That hull center section looks really beefy!! Looks like a nice boat to build....I just might have to look at adding another boat to the fleet when I get this 1/8 scale done....:)

Yes, the FE version is now ready to offer. The nitro version has a few small things to finish up, then it will be available. Unfortunately, my website will not let me add new products, and honestly I have not had a single order threw the website in over 3 weeks, so its probably not even working anymore. If anyone needs a kit, please email me at jamesmluszcz@hotmail.com. This kit will be $210 plus shipping. My other kits will be rising in cost as soon as I have access to the admin panel again. My laser cutting costs have been going up, and I can no longer keep the prices where they are. I am just grinning and bearing it until the website is redone. Let me know! Mike

It will be soon as I do the initial build and test. Kit is designed tho!

Just got the file from Anthony. He feels like the GSX380 Nitro cowl plug will get cut this week, or early next week. He made it long enough so the Nitro user can either go all the way to the back of the boat, or stop it at the rear hatch plate. He also made the back end the right length so the tuned pipe can either pop out of the top of the canopy, or stay low, and come out of the transom, to fit both Association rules. This cowling will also be offered with the FE kit for those that like this cowling more than the current FE cowling!

Enjoy, Mike

Mike, can we have something that's not this at the front of the tub? Looks like an afterthought.

Even if it was just a larger half round it would be better than the cabinet kick plate look. I couldn't bring myself to do it on the scale.

A new stand for the GSX380 and GSX310 has been finished, along with a lot of other cool stuff. These stands have prop guards, and the prices are a lot lower as I changed how they were being made. I have also modified the GP and SX series stands, and the Universal outtrigger stands to lower the prices. Should make these much more reasonable to purchase! Thanks, Mike
