Freddy has all the results. He was disassembling the drivers stand today.

I have to go back out tonight to get the rest of my gear. Not sure if I'll pull the course tonight. Really sore from all the running around. Oh soooooo whipped.

That was a brutal impact Ray. Almost all the way to the other end of the lake. I still don't understand why it didn't go into fail safe neutral.

I can't say enough about the time we (never mind, I'll let Don speak for himself) I had at the Michigan Cup.

Stellar event, GREAT people. It was good to meet in person some of the guys I only knew from the forums and record applications. Yes even Doby!:hug1:

MMEU gang. Fred, Terry, Tom and all the rest. Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication! I know first hand what it takes to put on a successful race and you guys made it happen.
Chris Harris, 1st class job in the tower my friend. Thank you sir!!:thumbup1:

My goals are always the same at these things. Meet some new people, enjoy some good racing, and bring everything home in the same condition it left in. I did all that and more. For that I want to thank everyone.

Terry and Dan. Thanks for the loaner parts so we could assemble a Q offshore boat for Don. You guys ROCK!

Mike Ball. It was really nice hanging out with you and your dad and telling all those partial truths. LOL Thanks for settling and accepting our offer to join team "ORCA". "The Cup" looks good on the mantle in my dining room. I'll hand it off to Don at the Atlanta Grand Prix and he'll send it to you when he gets good and ready.LOL Seriously, it was a pleasure being your team mate.

Tyler, Landon, Fede, and the Paganelli girls are the future of model boating. Rest easy fellas, the hobby is in good hands. Class acts, ALL OF THEM! Apparently their mothers are doing a good job.

"Mad Mike" Now I understand.LOL Your Scale is sick and I enjoyed running laps with you and Ken. Hopefully next year I'll have it where I can hold lane .5 cause that's what it's going to take to keep you in the Squires rooster. Good stuff man!

Doby and Tracey. Thanks for all the pictures. I took a few but it looks like you two have it covered very well.

I'm sure I'll probably have more to say later (like it or not) but I'm going to slip back into a coma for a bit. The post race syndrome is tough on this old man.
Already looking forward to entering the 2016 Michigan Cup!!!

Doug

PS: I don't know if everyone realizes it or not, but you had the IMPBA President, National Gas Director, Vice President, National Fast Electric Director, and of course D13 & National Records Director at this race. I thought that was pretty cool.

Oh yeah Don Huff, thanks again "Pop"!!! I Love you man!:crying:

Wait.....next year? Who said we were doing this again? haha Like we could resist.

Tyler was already working the angles yesterday to get himself a Q offshore. Not by earning it of course! Turd.

There wasn't any "IMPBA sucks" or "NAMBA sucks" talk at all. Just a bunch of boating morons.

Doug, we need to keep explaining to people how much fun these events really are. You can actually forget about your day job for 10 minutes and just breath. We already own toy boats. A chance to play with them? With other idiots that own toys boats too? Priceless.

I was sifting through Tracey's pics on FB and I noticed something..............so many smiling faces. Made me grin again. It's why we host.

Better not get that kid a Q offshore!!!! Hey Terry we ran the Titan 40 on 5s with a 1521/1.5D on a 445 and it was awesome, you pronbably have some 5s packs around and Titans are pretty easy to come by.

Another awesome event,
Always tricky trying to bring your family and race at a high level.
Thanks to everyone especially my wife and step-son Fede it worked and
both had a great time without being bored to death. Sounds like
Landon and Fede have become friends too. Landon is such a gentleman
even coming to the trailer after Fede's first heat win and shaking his hand.
Later sent a text message asking for Fede's email so that they could converse.

Again, Terry, Fred, Chris, Tom, Ken and the whole MMeu & Elks clubs put on another
terrific race. Just the right pace and intensity to make it just pure fun.
Congrats to Ava and Mike for Ava's Mr. Offshore win
Congrats to Doug, Don, & Mike for winning the Michigan Cup.
Seems like we can never quite get enough points or pick the right classes to win it.

Our next stop in Canada did not workout....seems like the paperwork carefully sent from
our US congressman and immigration were not acceptable at the border even after 2 attempts
and many long phone calls, so my wife's family did not get their reunion that had been planned
for so many months. Hopefully we can try to repeat the same trip next year.
I was told to blame Doby for everything....lol

See everyone at next year's Michigan Cup :bounce:

Doby
07-02-2015, 11:31 AM
Sorry about that Ken.

I guess I wasn't clear in my instructions to the border folks......I thought I told them to let the beautiful one in, and keep you out....sorry:doh:

hell yea, same exact motor for the p and q setup 1521/1.5d we ran a x450 for p-mono and a x445 for the q offshore class, did you see how fast her boat was in q offshore??? holy crap she walked away from me and fred when she hit the throttle!!!

lol there was plenty left in the batts, over 30% but i don't think she pushed it very hard, it is exactly the same setup I used in P offshore in my sprintcat and I had 25% left after 4 minutes.

Thanks to everyone for such a great race. I almost hate to say, that I truly enjoyed my first ever "all electric race" . I say "hate" because I am a reciprocating mass
kinda guy. And no sooner that I got home, My son Lamar brought over a box full of Zenoah parts for me to modify. He builds modified engines for sale, and I do the lathe and mill work on them.

Things were going tooo easy right up till Sunday morning when I saw the points sheets and saw that I was in the lead for the Mr Offshore award! Whats Mr. Offshore? I looked at Doug and said "if only I had a Q boat......What is a Q???? He took me by the collar and after getting a motor from one guy, a carburetor (yall call them ESCs for some reason) from another, a propeller from Doug's trash bag, and batteries from the drawer marked "old do not use" And the whole time Chris Harris was saying , with a calculator in hand, "it MIGHT work! We stuffed all that into my little 29" ORCA and threw it at the water. I learned something .... I like Qs. Even hodge podge thrown together at the last minute Qs. The gears are ah turning in my head now, and I for see an up scaled ORCA of say 40 inches. I let you know when it's ready, but I pretty sure there will be a couple at next years Michigan Cup race. I felt sure that Ava would pass me and get way more laps that I could (she did) I was just trying to hang onto second place (I didn't). But putting the Q together was a highlight of the race to me. Seeing everyone and everything come together and the finished product actually work, man, that was fun.

I cant talk about the race without Thanking Doby, for calling for me. I must have used him at least 89 times. I'm sure he had other things to do but he never turned me down. Thank you Doby. And for anyone who has never used him, he is what a caller should be. He tells you every single move to make and warns you of traffic and dead boats like it should be done. I do believe that I could have closed my eyes, and turned my back to the lake, and would have probably done just as good. Maybe even better as I bet that I would have followed his instructions to go outside the dead boat instead of thinking that I could make it on the inside. I hit the dead boat, sorry Bob.

Yep, I really enjoyed the race, and the road trip was fun too. It was a tad long at 1800+ miles round trip. But it hard not to enjoy the ride when BOZO the clown is in the front seat with you. I just wish he would learn to sprecken zee english! Maybe we wouldn't make so many wrong turns!

Thanks again to all
Don Huff

Thanks Don, it was a better race with you and the Smockster there (don't tell Doug I said that). This might have been your first all electric race but I doubt it will be your last!

Last year at the Nats he did all he could aside from grabbing my Tx to GO WIDE! ....instead I got tunnel vision and nailed Bob Zola's dead hydro. Yes, Doby is an excellent caller if I had only listened to him....

Nice to meet you Don, nice running boats.

A great big thank you to everyone hauling my fat arse up the stand and back down to my pits. Even with all that help, I'm just getting back to some kind of normal today. I'm going to work on fixing my Cheetah now...lol...

That whole post was hilarious but I need to address this. Seriously "BOZO the clown" was the best you could come up with?:moon::tongue:
And who picks a voice on the GPS that neither of us could understand because she sounds like she has bigger breasts than the others?
If we have to go there again at least show me the display.

Wendy and I never used a GPS the whole time. I'm finally learning the lay of the land after my third trip. I wrote the directions down before I left Canada. Wendy and I had a great time. Found a great food place for next year. There is this pizza, chicken and rib place on Rochester rd that makes awesome ribs and chicken to order.

I'd like to thank Howard Streke (sp) for explaining why two of my boats went squirrelly, specially the cheetah. The only 2 boats I put a cap on my antennas and the Cheetah does a 60mph bee line into a pine tree.

hey Ray just so you know the sprincat is just a hair over 35" my sprincats are only 34" there is enough overhang on the front of the sponsons to cut enough off to make them legal for P racing. I've been doing this to my sprintcats since they came out with the length limits. I've been trying to get remy to make them like this but it's too much of a hassle for him to change his molds.

Cool Mike. Thanks for the info! I might just get one sometime if my repairs aren't up to task on the Cheetah.

The Cheetah is a nice hull except it's quite brittle even wiutyh the Carbon/Kevlar. The cf/Kevlar is only on the bottom and sides not the top.
