I think RC Racing Events had a minor meltdown when Smock signed up.....it couldn't believe what it saw!

It was probably when I entered the seventh race of the year.

A little bird called this afternoon and said the entries for this race were down from years past because I was entered. He said it was unclear but figured it was the Nazi thing because everyone knows I'm no threat on the race course.

Just because I refered to you as the forum Nazi
does not mean you need to call me a "little Bird".
I prefer Terry Butter Boy Davis's nickname for me..... "Fireball"

OK, all of you procrastinators.....really need to get signed up for
what should be the biggest race all FE of the year !
146 Boats are already entered....don't miss this one

We will keep the Nazi off of everyone......lol :bounce:

Ok.....just surpassed 150 Boats
Still missing some racers that I think are definites.
Ray Schrauwen, Don Huff.......
and where are all the rest of the MMeu club.

To attract the fence sitters the rest of you really need to get signed up.
It is not like they are asking for immediate payment so just go ahead and enter.
There are some other well know racers that are starting to think about
this years Cup, but it needs to be well attended........hint hint.
Sign up now.....
Thanks, Ken :bounce:

We'll have some generators on site but again....bring it if ya got it.

Who and when do we Pay??
That's gonna be Freddy. I just texted him to see if he's planning to send out invoices like he has in the past. I'll keep ya posted.

There was some pretty harsh criticism of our race from Wisconsin after the nats. The racer count, the points system, the NAMBA class structure, having to watch guys compete for high points. Just what I can remember. None of that set well with them. Well......in fairness, I only know of one that felt that way for certain. I didn't realize then that that they were having a terrible time. I doubt they'll be back.

Their having pretty good success with their local race program anyway. Think they're already 25 deep for their June club race. Pretty sweet. They don't necessarily have to travel any more to get their fix. We did the same thing for while with our club. Focused in on it. Ended up being really satisfying. Still is for me.

Supposed to be 3 but we'll let the numbers tell us what to do. The idea this year was for a more laid back pace. I doubt anyone will care if we jump to 4.

I would like to stay under 60 heats but we'll see. We're certainly capable of more than that if the racers are up to it. Of course we'd have to help Haines and PAGS since they always run 27teen class.

You would have to drive 45 minutes in any one direction to find a hotel that wasn't safe.

Lake Orion is nice. Rochester and Rochester Hills are nice. If money were not object I would stay down town Rochester. Cool little town that's walkable to food.

I don't know what dirt road you turn down to get there in 25 minutes but, Wendy and I had to drive around the lake every time from that place and it was no closer than the Red Roof in Auburn Hills/Rochester Hills and the staff are complete jug heads where you are staying. They come into your room when you put up the sign that says stay out and they lie about making mistakes. Have fun there, we did NOT!

Daniel and I stayed at the Red Roof in Auburn Hills/Rochester Hills in 2012 and it was 45ish minutes from the race site. We stayed at the one in Lake Orion (although it was a different name then) in 2013 and it was fine...2014 we camped at the race site(just because of the length of the Nats).

As for you and Wendy getting lost all the time...I suggest you find a driver who can actually see over the dash, it should cut down on your travel time substantially:bounce:

Where is Ray Presnell too?

Fred, I still can walk. I'll wear the water wings once the wrenching is done. It'll be fine.

Small chance she will get hand controls in for me to drive by the race. In 2013 there was tons of construction on Rochester road that is done now so as Jake said it was about the same driving time approx. for both places and I checked on the map as about the same drive time unless you are driving across the lake. There was one turn we were always missing to get to the place you're staying at this time.

They're nice looking hulls but they have a lot of strake so they ride high in the water. Might not be able to get it to settle in enough to be competitive.

Old school T boat.

Typical Aeromarine POS. Seem opened up under almost no stress. Ugh. Fixable but I'm out of time before the cup.

I shuffled my classes and screwed up the numbers a little but we're at 30 racers and 187 boats.

At the pond last night a few of us were talking about a powder puff class for the ladies. How much interest would there be in that? Maybe limited monos. Just turn em loose with little to no experience. They're just toy boats's. Talk about fun factor.

I think we would do it Saturday and we would just wing it. Not sure how anyone else feels about it but I was thinking it would be an unofficial kind of thing. Cats or monos on P limited. Maybe put the same sized prop on everything. Just thinking out loud on. We can talk about when everyone gets here. We would have to do SEI on them though.

She is staying here and has been to the Hospital twice now in the last week, Wendy is completely exhausted and has many pain issues from the last rear ending that totalled her truck. The new truck is smaller and we have no time to pre load the truck to see what fits.
So much going on with the new house too, main ensuite bathroom has to be torn apart because they messed up the plumbing since water is leaking out of the wall, other issues too. Let's just say I'm iffy this time. Not sure when the builder will fix it and we wanted to stage our trip from her house but, not possible if the only accessible bathroom is torn apart. I'm worried I'll get a call or text one day that Wendy has had a heart attack or stroke from the load she carries all the time.... Fun times....:-\
Wendy is so worn out and tired from pain, work and her daughter it scares me, really....

Best game ever!

Ray S....... you and Wendy do what you can. It would be great to see you guys but do what has to be and don't worry about us either way. Hell, if you guys want to just come and hang out and shout obscenities at me that would be okay too. If you don't make it we should start planning for the Can Am right away. A concerted effort from all of us and we could make a heck of a showing.

I was busting Ray Presnells chops back a few posts ago. PAGS, call him and harass him some too. I already offered to make someone disappear to make it easier for him. Between, you, me, and a pen full of pigs we got em covered. Hoffa......pft........whatever.

I don't know what's going to happen with the nats. Not looking good. Could just be nobody is signing up until the are ready because they want the money the minute you sign up apparently. So you can't sign up if your on the fence. So many theories on the lack of turnout. Wonder if we'll ever be asked.

I also wonder if Robert has a candidate for chairman after Dave bails. We should make Junior do it. He loves being in charge. bahahaha

It looks like the Michigan buoys are smaller than what we're used to. We should be ok. If not, we'll blame it on the buoys being smaller that what we're used to. We don't see as well as we did yesterday.

If you cut a buoy everybody has to do the extra lap. Until there are no boats left floating. Your a shoe in Don. Those speed craft are made of steel.

I like that idea TS. Everybody does the extra laps. But then again, I need those BIG BATTERIES.

Doug and I tried out the new P-Limited hull today, he and I both had one ready to run. Seems to be doing pretty good but... we have nothing to compare it to as non of us have ever even seen a limited mono run before.

Just an FYI for the first timers at the Michigan Cup:

1. SV27 is the ONLY class that has an ESC restriction.
2. 10,000 mah is the maximum for P & P-limited classes
3. Offshore is how many laps can you do in 4 min.
4. A cut bouy is a lap penalty.
5. 3 bouy cuts in one heat is a DQ.

Go to the south side of Pond Rd, off of Army Rd. to get to the race site.

The first year I went to Michigan, my GPS took me to the north side of Pond Rd, which basically consisted of a dried up creek bed going up a steep hill and required me getting out of my SUV twice to move trees (not branches) that had fallen down. Also, the neighborhood at that end had an eerie similarity to various parts of the movie "Deliverance" ....I could almost hear the banjos.:scared:

"Somebody had knowledge of something for sale and posted what they knew! That's strictly prohibited! DELETE! DELETE! It's over! We're all gonna die!"

They claim it's bumping or helping out a buddy. Like I would vouch for a POS. Chris had some sweet Propshop propellers for sale on there. I wanted to tell how nice those are but helping inform a potential buyer pisses the trolls off so I resisted.

What boats have you got?
I have several hulls & a slew of motors & esc. But the only thing I have running right now is a little Vector 28 for the kids & a Graupner Mosquito 28" mono with 2650kv 75a esc running on 3s. It still has the cheap plastic prop on it & I am still figuring out how to set it up. I am waiting for an order to come in from OSE as I just bought a few of the Graupner fiber reinforced props to try a few things out. I got into this hobby several years ago due to the fact that I am surrounded by lakes & have tons of place to run & by reading this sight. I had a few projects starting & several cool boats as I started to build a fleet & learn the hobby. Then unfortunatley I had a house fire & all my hulls burned up & melted, but I was able to salvage all my motors, esc's, lipo's, hardware etc. I even bought Jesse J's MRP fountain from this sight & that was sadly lost as well. Makes me ill just thinking about it :(. I had a family to get back on there feet & just threw all my misc parts in a bin. That was 4 years ago. Over this winter my uncle gave me his old Super Hawaii & a Venom Seagad 56" gas hull that he crashed & needs a bit of repair to. That really sparked my interest again. So in the past 6 months I have picked up this Graupner RTR, & within the last few weeks have ordered A Joysway Silverline for the big lake I live on (thread with lots of newb questions coming soon :)) & a Hobbyking Flowmaster C1 twin cat that still has not even arrived. So I am literally just getting back into the hobby after a long Hi8iS :).

So the thought of racing with the race a week away is little overwhelming. But I really want to learn about the hobby. So thought I would come as a spectator & try to wrap my head around all this stuff some more as I have had a passion for boats all my life.

Ryan I have these sitting in my basement, collecting dust.... IF and only IF you will run at the CUP, I can have one ready to run (less batteries) for tomorrow, you come to the practice pond around 9:30am, have NAMBA membership, we can get you some time on the water. Open water on Thursday at the Elks, you're good to go!!!

Grab it and growl Ryan!! Go out and run some laps. Get in the mix when you're comfortable. No pressure!!

An FYI for any people with GPS's that might take them to the north side of "Pond Road" , off of Rowland Rd....do not go to the north side of Pond Rd.

Not sure if its any better now, its been 4 years since then.

Michigan Club Dudes.....any construction happening around there this year? Seems everytime theres some detour taking us somewhere ...:patriot:
I was just making maps and Google directs you to the north end. I'll keep going south on Rochester rd and turn right on Army rd to come from the south.

Wait, you're house can't be more than 8 minutes from the pond. Have them come by for your last heat of the day.

If you get in trouble time wise you can always just drop your gear and roll. I'll take care of your stuff for you.

Miss Nina is officially coming to the race.
Nina asked if she could run my 2nd SV 27 in the MMeu SV -27 class.
I said yes, but only if she agreed to run also with Landon and Fede
in all of the Kids class races. She agreed.....Hurray for a good kids class !!
Just wanted to give you a heads up on this.
Thanks, Ken

Probably equivalent to the "Lady Byng" trophy of RC boating (southern guys may have to look this up). I think Pags said he likes the pretty boats. Well, at least I won something!!!! Peoples choice awards at our local boat show. Pretty cool.

I will be there around 2ish tomorrow. Looks like rain in the morning.

Oh......one more item to add to the "I can't believe Terry Davis did that" list. Last week he flipped his Q Hydro and drove it all the way backupside down on wind force. Truly amazing.:tiphat:
