rebuilding my impulse31

28 mm kehrer jet
3656 1800Kv aquacraft motor
3s lipo's

adjusted the hull with 2 layers 200gr cloth and removed overhang

127420

127421

problem is that this jet is designed for use with brushed 700 motors ,this means that the mounting holes for the motor are 29 mm and not 25 mm ,kehrer has an item that solves this problem but you get another problem : most motor will not go into the original coupler ( shaft too short) ,some outrunners with long shafts will do but because this is a low budget project and i'm using parts that i have laying around i came up with the solution in picture 2

just will have to make a motormount and not bolding the motor directly on the jet

still working on the hull at this moment : sanding the bottem and getting the transom ( 1 mm carbonplate)in the right shape

Interesting project, but out of curiosity, why are you runnin an AquaCrap motor in a PB??

See so much neg stuff on this board bout the gold cans... don't if it's just the 2030's or both (+1800's)

Seem's to me you could find a PB / Dynamite 1800 in the swap shop for reasonable. I'd offer my near new PB1800 (one short run) but wanna try it in my SW26 & see how she handles it.

Do have a question... how did you remove the wood interior?? No complaints bout mine, but if the need ever did arise, it would be good info to know.

as you can see the wood interior has been completely removed
that motor is not so bad ,it performed flawless in my lucas oil on 4s and later on 5s

it will swing that 28mm impellor on 3s just fine i guess

I also would like to know about the wooden interior... I just got an impulse as well and removed all the wood from the inside to prep it for an inlay, but it was just a torture of a task, especially that stuffing tube box. And even now the surfaces don't look nearly as clean as yours. Did you just sand it down?

i put in 2 layers off cloth (200gr) +epoxy
sanded in down between the layers and sanded it after it was finished to break away the sharp edges

hull with modifications/not finished at this point:

the flat riding surface should give me the desired "jet-handling" at

The only 'problem' with the gold cans comes from a hand full of oval racers. Run it within it's limits and they are fine.

At one time the motor was closer to the actual 2030kv but, now they are a fiar bit lower, that's all really. For sport use such as this it will be fine.

finished ,
few runs now
3s 1800 kv aquacraft : not fast enough , guess 30-35 km/h
4s was a big improvement ! but by the sound off it at full throttle it is about the max rpm this jet will take without cavitation

speed up to around 35-40 km/h i think , will gps it later on

i'm starting to like this jetboat!
not the impressive speed  but you can bash it around , it just will not flip or break out (belive me, i tried )
boat seems to suck itself on the watersurface at full throttle , strange when you're used to drive "normal" boats but fun :-)
boat corners like a car on slicks ,you can corner to the mm , again strange when ....
