I wonder if Larry Jaques might plan for this? aka Truckpull...

FE classes P Mono and P Limited O/B Tunnel.

FE 1/8 Scale will run with the 60 Scales. See race flyer for details.

......and P Limited Sport and P limited offshore or mono. Just say'n.

Offshore might make the fuel guys heads explode.

4 FE classes plus some scales would make it more inviting.

Hey fellas,

The Atlanta Model Boaters President and District 13 FE Director have agreed to lift the Limited class ESC restrictions for this race.

Note: P Limited O/B Tunnel has been removed and P Limited Sport Hydro has been added.

P Limited O/B Tunnels or any legal IMPBA O/B Tunnel can run in the Open Tunnel class.

Any legal IMPBA Mono or Catamaran can run in Open Offshore. ( This is not a timed event. This is milling on the oval course and 6 laps on the offshore course.)
127119
I have no idea how long it takes to complete this offshore course as I never run it other than messing around with my gas boats. I'll be happy to gather that info if needed.
It may be important to note that the IMPBA doesn't have capacity limits. Meet the IMPBA FE class requirements for length and max weight of 25#s RTR.

There are typically Nitro and or Gas classes that don't make the five boat minimum. If that is the case this year I will poll those already entered near the deadline for entry (April 5th) and see what class(s) you are interested in running, and we can fill.

Thanks for the interest!

Doug, is there open water Friday and did you ever get a best guess on run time for that psychotic offshore course?

Doug Smock
03-20-2015, 03:45 PM
Hi Terry,

There will be uncontrolled open water Thursday after 5pm., and controlled open water all day Friday.

I haven't timed the offshore but discussed it with the club president. We are estimating around 5 minutes or so is what it's taking the gas boats. Figure low to mid 50s for speed in the straightaways.

Hey Terry,

Sondra and I have stayed here a couple of times. The place has been clean, safe, & quiet. http://www.reservation-desk.com/hotel/254928/?CID=PPC_bing_B-Hotels+-+S_1525937284_+Sleep%2520+Inn%2520+Fairburn_b&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=+Sleep%2520+Inn%2520+Fairburn&utm_content=1525937284&utm_campaign=Hotels+-+S&mkwid=FuOcG2rL_dc&pcrid=1525937284&muid=8aaa4c66-1aef-4a0a-9fa5-3f9a7bf299e8

Some folks stay in Peachtree City. It is a little farther from the pond but has more to offer restaurant wise. Let me find out where the "smartest hotel" is there for you. I would rather you have a choice than go on my recommendation. Don't want to hear it.

Hi Thomas,
Really glad you guys are coming. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys.
I spoke with Bill Britton earlier in the week and he was confident that the site would be back up shortly. (They are replacing phone poles) If that doesn't happen for what ever reason we'll switch to plan B. The race will be held even if we (Lamar) has to print off heat sheets Fri.
One of us will post here when we know more.

Thank you sir!

Yes a handful of die hard gas guys running fast electrics. My work in Atlanta is done. LOL

Terry and Thomas. These guys are new to running FE but don't let that fool ya. We'll have to get together along with Chris Harris & Brad Schafer and come up with a plan to tear down the yellow wall a brick at a time. You'll see what I mean during open water.

Doug, what's with the tiny scale props? Who cooked that one up? I'll be interested to see how that goes. IMPBA has the weird scale motor spec too don't they?

Hey Terry,

The idea there is to keep it a drivers class and reduce the anxiety of some of the die hard nitro Scale guys. I have been working and running with Rick Bellinger (our District Scale Director) for the last couple of years in running FE with the 60s. He wants to see the Scale #s up and doesn't really care what powers the boats. The 10s set up has been tested and it works. The 8s setup hasn't been run in the district and that's why "Subject to change at the CDs discretion" is in there. It's just an attempt bring some parity to the apples and oranges. Right now I have the only FE Scale entered. All good drivers, should be a hoot!

Yes we have the Scale motor spec. Remember all the noise about 80 MPH heat racing Scales when LiPo came in?

T.S.Davis
04-08-2015, 12:56 PM
Yeah, I've seen some really fast scales run by some really good drivers and have notr seen a heat racer that was an 80mph boat. Nayman had perfect heats for I think a whole season and was still nowhere near 80.

You could probably get to 80 but roundy rounds? Not very practical.

My scale has a 2217 and weighs in at approximately 26 metric tons so needs a gigantic prop. Still needs a lot of work that one.

T.S.Davis
04-08-2015, 01:00 PM
Chris Harris & Brad Schafer and come up with a plan to tear down the yellow wall a brick at a time.

Chris might still owe me a punch in the head for one reason or another. I'll bring head gear.

Chris might still owe me a punch in the head for one reason or another. I'll bring head gear.

LOL No you won't need head gear.

I agree, heat racing at 80 with a scale isn't practical. I have no idea how fast mine is. It didn't really matter because I was trying to match the nitro speeds.
Ferrette broke 100 with one in E City. I'll remember that always as I was at the console.
Very impressive.

Hey Chili,
Messy day today for open water but it didn't stop anyone that wanted to run.
Weather man says the weather will improve for tomorrow, but Sunday we may be back in the path of the "rain train".
Terry and Tom (nice guys BTW, not at all what they seem like on the forum )came with some good running boats. P Mono is going to be epic. Terry brought a bazooka to a knife fight. Hoping one of us can push him out to I-285 at the start.
As usual I spent the day running my butt off taking care of our guests, but I think my boats are ready rock. If not I'll always think the should have been.lol
Hoping at this point to get through three rounds tomorrow and one (possibly two) on Sunday.
Racing starts at 8am.

Have a great weekend with the family! We'll play another time.
