View Full Version : Recommended ESC's for P Limited?

I am trying to figure out what is a good ESC for P limited racing. I'm thinking 120A rating would be good. Hifei has a 120A ESC for $100 that has data logging. Hobby King has several ESCs around $50. There is also Hobby Wing 120A at about $80. Some ESCs are encased in enclosures others are just in shrink wrap. Enclosures seem to weigh more, but I would guess could be more durable? There are also the ETTI and Castle ESCs that are rather expensive. So what's everyone's opinion?

Hi Dave,

I have successfully used the AquaCraft (60amp version) for several years. with minimal failures. I like them because they are easy to use, NO programming necessary, and they are water resistant (they are "encased"). With that being said there are many options out there that will work well.

I second the aquacraft 60amp version. I've beat the tar out of it and it's still tickin'. An added benefit that I've always liked is that you have to feed it full throttle to arm it. That way there is NO question if you are getting full throttle during operation (no possibility for throttle trim error, etc...)

Aquacraft 60 amp control is all we run in the limited classes.

Seaking 120 or 180. Best bang for the buck.

The Hobby King Encased esc's work very well. I use the 120amp unit for LSH and others use the lighter 90 amp unit for offshore 4 min races. Cheap and water proof for under $50. I haven't heard of anyone burning one up.
