i wanted to run 3s lipos with my blackjack and a tech from pro boat told me it would cook the motor.

you have a great esc in the barracuda so you should upgrade your motor also.

ive run the stock motor and esc on 4s lipos with no problems so far. the stock motor is 1500 kv so it spins about 22k rpm on 4s lipos. i did have motor temp issues but i turned the timing on the stock esc from low to high with the program card and temps dropped greatly.

i have a hydra 120 that i run a feiago 9xl with on 4s 8000's with a grimracer 40x53 copper prop and see speeds in the low to mid 40's and it gets out of the hole alot better than with a 42x55 or a 42x66.

So you will be running 8s in total? Thats a ton of rpm. More than safely recommended for the motor.

:iagree:WITH STEVEN ALSO. NOT TO MENTION MORE THAN THE ESC CAN HANDLE. IT WOULD BE OK TO RUN THE PACKS IN PARALLEL OTHERWISE :flashfire:

8S with that motor (3100) gives 91760 rmp, way too much to do any good for anything. Crazy, I'd either back off on the voltage or switch the harness over to a parallel configeration. This would give you 45880rpm. Still a little high but usable.

considering you mentioned that you'll be using a y connector, I'm going to assume you are running them in parallel, in which case it would be totally fine, since it's still just 14.8 volts, but double the run time. If you are planning on running them in series as mentioned (8s, 29.6 volts) bring a fire extinguisher :flashfire:
