Hi guy's,
I have been told to run the new Hobby Wing "SeaKing" 180 v3 Amp ESC on 6s it requires additional capacitors. I have never added any to my V2's before, although the new ones dont have the extra bank included. Im hopping you guys can set me strait. Im setting up a twin and dont want to smoke them.
Cheers boys

Thanks for that, tlandauer , im trying to find the thread for the best way to install ,can you help. I think im going to use the Castle bank. Is there such a thing as over doing the capacitors?? also would you recommend removing the originals caps when adding the castle bank?? or leaving them and just adding to it??? I have a theory just want to be shore. Cheers for your help m8

Hey, the new ones have caps on the battery leads allready. The esc has perminant caps that you can't modify . I suppose you can add more caps to the battery leads, never hurts. I'm running a 4s setup with a 2200kv, 2500 watt max motor and no issues at all with hot caps.

In the thread I showed one way to mount them and u removed the useless factory ones. If you need any more help, let me know. I have one in a boat I just built for someone.

Ok guy's , so from what ive read here. Don't remove the original caps on the v3 Seaking , and add the extra cap bank after the originals not before. Will the proximity ( how close after) have any impact?
Kfx you think I should remove the "factory" caps and just replace them?
It can be a little difficult to understand at times as there are differing opinions on the best way to do this here. I do respect everybody's advice and expertise as I still have a lot to learn. But my head is telling me the more experienced members will have been there done that already so to speak.
anyway
I'm shore im on the right path now thanks for all your help guy's.

All I'm saying is my experience with the new V3 has been good the way they come. If you want to add more the battery leads is were you put them.

Thanks Rearwheelin I here you m8, I have used the v2 out of the box before on 6s feeding 1800 kv with no problems at all. I have recently finished a Silver Fox cat with the new V3 on 6s and tp 4050 1800kv motor . I have only run 2 packs through it so far with no heat issues at all and very punchy.
The Zonda im building at the moment though will have twin 180 V3's 6s and TP 4050 2200kv's. I know im pushing the limits with this setup but done right with the right props should be good. And it was recommended that I add the extra caps to the speedy for a little extra insurance . Which lead me to post the Question to you guy's and try and learn exactly which would work best and the best way to fit them.
As I said I think im on the right path now I just dont want to over do it. From what ive read here too big a bank can cause issues as well.
Hell M8 im a Nitro man and the hole electric thing is so complicated now days lol

As long as your batteries are plenty for your application you don't need the cap banks. All the banks do is smooth the current and give a little more stored energy closer to the esc. If you are running the good batteries you are less likely to need the banks but it doesn't hurt.

No worries bud, ill be running 4 x 3s 5000 65/130s, Im also thinking of trying the Max Amps packs with the built in coolers. They look real nice and plenty of juice.

A word of caution: Max Amps are seldom used by experienced boaters for various reasons, before you spend your money, do a bit of research or asking, just saying.....

I have not used mine yet... It's still with kfxguy in my new boat. We both agreed a Castle Cap Pack with a 14s capable BEC (http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=de-vhvbec&cat=136)

He said my temps were really low, and that's the way I like it since I am in the South. I really think they should have done better with the heatsink.... But it appears mine works for 6s.
