Darin Jordan and others have mentioned the PB 1800kv new version with 12G leads. Does anyone know who sells the new version??

OSE, Horizon hobbies??

Is there a part number difference?

I'd like to test one of these out....

Thanks!

Me too! I dont like how the wires are on my older ones. I did put ceramic bearings in one of them last night and its 100 times smoother. 12 bucks shipped for the bearings! Maybe someone can post up some pics of the new one...

Which motor did you replace bearings in? What bearings? Link?

I bought the bearings off ebay. 5 x 11 x 5. You have to hold the motor in your hand tightly and whack the shaft with a hammer a couple times. The cap is glued (wtf? Lol) on. I red loctite it and put two screws in it.

Btw, it's a 685 part number bearing. Red loctite it back in the case too.

Ray,

Same part number... was a production "inline" update... However, good luck finding them. Horizon isn't even listing these any longer, and the 1500KV will be gone shortly as well.

I just found out two days ago that they've decided to change manufacturers and will no longer be providing the 1500 or the 1800 KV motors. I'm not clear on what they are moving to just yet.

I wish there was something I could do to change this, because the updates were incredible, but I have very little influence on decisions like this these days.

It is what it is, I guess....

Just for reference... that is the right part number... but that's not the most recent motor...

Also, these "updates" you have done make the motor illegal for P-Ltd classes, in case you had that in mind...

By the way... I believe that Terry Davis was running several boats at the Nats running the updated 1800's...

The fish in my lake won't know the difference lol. I'm not racing. Just playing around. Why buy another set of cheap bearings when ceramics aren't much more is my thoughts. Now the other guy above...we'll that may apply to him. I don't see why a bearing change would hurt anything anyway. I know it's the older motor....was just letting him know that if he has a shot motor (like mine was) it can be revived.

Humbug!!!!

Oh well, we will wait until they come out with something else....

There are a few good aftermarket motors out there for spec class but, the rules are as they are and I get why. The problem is that as you say PB is changing things again so, it's making a dogs breakfast out of what motors are going to be legal for spec racing. Some guys like you and a few others know where to scoop up some of the better blue motors or gold and that leaves the majority using the stuff that's readily available.
Make it simple, if PB and AQ can't keep a consistent steady supply of Spec motors, then maybe we should go to a $100 motor like this: 1410/2Y/SE

$99.00

The 1410/2Y/SE is designed as a lower cost version of our popular 14XX series motors. It has a little smaller rotor diameter rotor but to makeup for that the stator is a bit longer. The Kv for this motor is 1850 with a no-load current of 1.4 amps. Weight is 205 grams. Diameter is 36.5mm and is 58mm in length. The output shaft is 5mm. We are offering a limited time special on these motors of $99. This motor is a good match for the MidiFan running 6 or 7S and drawing 60-80 amps with thrust in the 70-90oz range. The 1410/2Y also will make a prop plane move right along too with a 8x5 prop and a 3S battery it will draw 50 amps and with 7x7 prop 45 amps.

I agree... I've done the same.. especially with the old SV27 motors. New bearings were worth over 1000RPM... :)

well im going to guess in my situation...its going to be more. Just last weekend My impulse 31 would do 44.8mph with shot, rusted bearings in the 1800kv (it got so hot and had such a load the solder melted on the deans connector within 30 seconds on 6s) and when I swapped to a 1500kv, fresh proboat motor and it did 44.7mph with the same prop and batteries. lol. Im hoping for 50mph now with the freshened up 1800kv on 6s with an x642 prop. I think it should do it.....

how did you remove the cover I did not have much luck with the ones I have (2) I don't want to clamp the case in a vice.
I think I have the new version with threads and its also glued.
