Hey guys, lets kick off the new year once again with a new thread as the other one is loooooong.

I planned on having a real race day Sunday, but just got a call that I will have family in town from PA for one day next week. that day is Sunday. So I will not be attending.

If anyone wants to grab the equipment.... pa, stereo, table, generator, speakers etc and run a race day they can. Or if you want to just run another tnt. Let me know

-Scott

bill34207
02-04-2014, 09:25 AM
I'm not sure of which direction to point you in there. Lots of the guys are running 2200 kv motors with 180-240 amp ESC's. These setups are fast be pretty high strung and I've seen more than one stop in the middle of a race because of ESC or motor issues.
I'm running a 6s motor (1577kv) in mine on 4s. It's not as fast, but it can turn a lot of laps without overheating or over stressing anything.

tiqueman

I had a hard time too going from winds to kv. Kv x voltage = unloaded rpm. Generally somewhere in the low 30k range is a reliable set up. High 30s into 40k rpm is considered saw (straight a way) type set ups and low mid 20s is typically stock type set ups and very mild sport running.

Hope that helps a little.. then comes props and loads lol. Kinda like gearing w a lot less options

Congrats on the new boat!

I assume the guts of the Mountain Hobbies boat go in there.

Nope, all new stuff. Leopard 56110 950kv, SF240 pro plus. from what I can gather the Chaos bare hull is about 2.5lbs lighter than the Hyper. I've got a Leopard 5698 910kv in the Hyper I got the Hyper all repaired from the hull seperation it came out really nice you can barely tell anything happened. Not only did it seperate across the bow, it also seperated across the transom too! It looked like there just wasn't enough epoxy in the seams at the bow and transom, but there is NOW!!! lol The Chaos comes with a extra uncut hatch and it doesn't look like it's gonna be too bad to tape up.

Yeah, when we were looking at it we're both dumb... all I had to do was swap sides with the foot rests, remember how they came out and went down? Well if you flip them over and swap sides with them, they now come out and angle up!! Looking at them, I think that's the way they're supose to go anyway..

Rich, If you let us know what you are trying to accomplish, there may be other ways to get it done. For instance, I did my M&M's graphics with an inkjet and laminating film.

And WHERE ARE THE PICS of this freshly painted beasty?

Just bought a cutter. have been following reviews and projects since october on the silohette cutter. You can import your own designs, upload shapes and import images printed on other vinyl to have it machine cut your edges. Also had the opportunity to use one not long ago and it seems itll do all id need it to do..

Not sure yet about the blasters event. Two out of state vacations scheduled around that time so ill see when we get closer.

rdcracer

I was also looking to use it to make masks. That Silohette cutter looks like the ticket. Let me know what you think about it. I dont want anything big, just big enough to make masks for painting. I would appreciate it if someone filled me in on the printer method also.

Having looked at the FS ad, you should have taken the money offered and ran. Sunken boat with steering already acting funny, it's only a matter of time til the ESC craps out as well.

is that a 4 speed n that rescue boat.

I do believe that's a shifter adapted to trolling motor foot pedal. Clever.

Y'up I think it's gonna work pretty good, I just need to make a little linkage to activate the switch and it'll be done.

Scott,

What format(s) does the cutter like?

tiqueman
03-06-2014, 07:23 AM
Ray, TTF, OTF files, STUDIO files, GSD/GST, DXF, JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, and TIF files. If you have something that doesn't work I can always trace it or work with it in cad from a scan etc and import it as a dxf. Ive already done that a few times and it works nice.

Chris, I have like a bright neionish orange here. Call me later and we can see if itll work and if I have enough for what you want.

Ive yet to work with printing an image and then having the cutter cut it out. Hope to start experimenting with that tonight or tomorrow.

tiqueman
03-07-2014, 07:08 AM
Amazon. Craft corner was the supplier. it was just over 300 after i added some vinyl. Seems to be a nice little cutter. I figured out importing logos last night and outlining them to be able to have them machine cut.

Chris D. I was able to do one of the logos. 6" wide ended up about 4 and a little high. Ive got to get more of the vinyl. I got it from a friend of mine whos got a shop so I should be able to have both the logos for Sunday. Heres a shot of the side decals before I transfer papered them.

That is correct. The 1515 is actually a car motor (like the 1717 and 2028) but there are probably more of them being used in boats than there are in cars.

ron1950

bill34207
04-24-2014, 08:31 PM
Knowing that name comes from playing electric jets. The HET 700 series is actually a pretty good alternative to the higher priced Neu's. The 70-68 is 1515 size and available in several kv ranges. Biggest difference is even the long can motors are only 39 mm on the case OD. (same as a 1515 where the 1521 - 1530 are 40 mm) That's ok though. We all know somebody that can make cooling jackets for them :biggrin:http://shop.turbofanelectrics.com/category.sc;jsessionid=E937168F13CE4B13913BC9DE3E9 FEFBD.m1plqscsfapp05?categoryId=33
The ones in the Cheetah worked pretty good on 6s but are too low kv for running on 4.

Hey Bill, If you can do me a favor and go through that video to see if there is a clear enough section of the video to see if there is good water flow out the exhaust pipes. I couldn't see it good enough when I was running it. Everything checked good temp wise but I like to know how much flow there is.

That was a pretty thick NAMBA packet that arrived in my mail today. Now I'm going to have to go back and re-read the electric section since most of the pages were for it.

Weather considered, thinking I will just take care of the household chores & shopping today. Sunday looks like a much better possibility even if it is the final day of the event.

Hey Chris Have you used the hatch screws from Scott. I went to use them on my P-mono and cant figure them out. There are blind nuts to mount on the inside of hull and counter sunk hex screws to go in from the top. I cant figure how they wont pull through the fiberglass hatch. Any ideas.
