Water Coming in thru stuffing tube

How do I stop the water from leaking back thru the stuffing tube? I installed a wire drive and now it can see the water coming in.

Believe it or not; the dog drive has a flat face on the stuffing side. What happens is the flat face forces water up the shaft and to fix this is to round that face enough so water flows around that face. Also if you can find nylon tube that has a diameter to insert into stuffing tube with a hole in nylon, the diameter of wire and plenty of grease will solve your water problem, DON'T LAUGH! You could put a smaller stuffing tube in place of old! LHS has 1/8" nylon tubing with small hole for piano wire to go through.

im using a wire drive thoughThe first photo IS a wire drive. The second just shows how the silicon touches the driveline. Note that the stuffing tube with the wire drive is smaller than one for a flex cable. Works perfectly without having to machine hardened steel.

I have pretty good luck on my little wire drives (1/16" and 3/64") with filling a good chunk of the stuffing tube with grease. I squirt it in, then hold my finger over the upper end of the stuffing tube while I slide the wire through the grease. Forces the grease around the wire. I also use the silicone tube piece like Jay shows, but for the tiny stuff, it's still a tad big. It does help hold the grease at that point, though.

Our best fix has been an antenna rubber nipple cap and glue to the stuffing tube and then poke a hole for the wire to run thru. You can find heavier rubber nipples at an auto part store known has a vacuum line cap.
