Any standard size servo with at least 50 oz/in of torque should work.

Cool, I'm looking at hk high torque metal gear waterproof. They're only 7 bucks, bargain!

A lot of my handling issues have been cured by switching to a servo with more torque and better centering. Your boat isn't that big but would use 50 oz as the bare minimum.

Rated for 4.5-5kg so should be plenty. By the way, is your avatar a surge crusher? looks cool.:thumbup1:

just curious on too much torque for a rudder servo?
being a lot the new standard size water proof ones seemingly are quite strong.

No Problem. The more power you have in the servo, the less stress on it. Hopefully the gears will be stronger and it will last longer.

It's a miss geico with a paint job.

I think you can have a servo that is too fast and will cause twitchy handling but I don't think excessive torque would cause any problems.

i was thinking so being end points set properly, just gearing up on switching out some servos soon. coating them with Plasti-dip,
well i do not do it too pretty, brushing it on looks fine but takes a couple of coats, and dipping the servo i had to open servo mount some.
probably get the nice Alum. mounts that are adjustable.
thanx.

Nothing a little exponential adjustment can't fix... if you radio is so equipped.

Im a freak, as fast and strong as I can get, my P-boats have BL 250oz/in tq and .07 sec travel and my bigger boats all have 300+ can never have enuf speed or Tq you can always dial the speed back on the transmitter!!!

I ended up getting the hk high torque metal gear, two ball bearing, waterproof for 7.99. It rated at 12.5 kg for torque. Should be just enough yea?!

I'm running the same exact servo in my Apparition and my buddy runs it in the Genesis and it's holding up very well thus far.
Centering is good, slop is minimal and it's strong and fast enough for me.
Never noticed any issues in fast straight lines nor while cornering.
I'd definitely recommend it, especially considering the price.
