Hahaha I hope we're not the only two here on Ose Ray.
Sunday was awesome, the rain held off right up until we were packing it up. We couldn't have asked for more.
I'm definitely looking forward to running with you again!

Finding a central location isn't easy.I joined northern lights club and run at their Aliston pond its a little far but they have a course
set up with a retrieve boat handy. When do you run in mississauga and where do you park.

For osprey marsh we either park at Pondview Way or we park at Parkgate Drive. We we run at Professors lake in Brampton we park on Priscilla court. We usually run on Sundays around 4-5 pm.

Rick in Brampton. I'd be interested. I mainly run the boat at the cottage, but I could be back in time for a late Sunday afternoon run. The cottage is in Haliburton, so quite a few places can be on the way home.

I have a son in Milton who doesn't have a boat yet, but may just inherit my Revolt if I can't get a decent price for it.

There's another guy, Matt, that has quite a few boats and runs cars at Sid's with my son. I'll point him to this thread.

Do you run in Pickering very often ?
Where do you run ?
I am not on facebook
Can not make it on May 10 becuse it is my mothers 70th birthday party (I would be up the creek if I went to play boats :) )

@ eboat the guys out in that area run at Frenchmans bay pretty often, but you should get on Facebook so you'll know when they're going. The group name is Boaters and Crawlers Durham.

@ Ray that some good news, but if you don't mind confirm it on the event thread on FB. I'm realy looking forward to running with a pretty sizeable group.

It would be nice to have you out John. We will be setting up a course of some kind, more the likely an oval. There will be fishing rods, possible retrieval boat, and a possible kayak. I will know more by the end of the week. If you have a retrieval boat, by all means bring it. The more the better!

Something close to a 1/6th mile oval would be nice so I can do some real testing.

Bring my Q-mono, Geico Spec power and DF33 Spec power. Not too much else to bring, still refurbishing some boats and making wood chips on others, getting there though...

I'd like to go but, my dilemma is as it has always been. I don't own more than one set of Lipo's for each boat and I have not heard if anyone going has a generator? I'm trying to acquire a Honda 1000 used but, they are hard to come by. If I were to try and charge from my car it might kill the battery. I do have a spare car battery in decent shape from my old Grand Prix but, not sure how many charges I'll get out of that thing??? Any suggestions...

Like I said before if Chris K. were coming I could most likely borrow a little bit of juice from him but, he goes to Alliston pond mainly. If I have time in between appointments today I'll call him and see if he can come with some juice...

Weather is o.k. it says high of 20* and a few showers. I'll be cycling cells later after I make a dreaded trip to the vet tonight.

05-08-2014, 04:34 PM
Thanks Guys!!! Awesome! Yeah, I could charge from my car as long as I keep 1 4S 5800Mah pack at least 1/2 charged as it will start a car easy, I've done it.

O.k. now for dinner and then Odie's possible last ride to the vet... :crying:

Wendy and I will not be that early. Not because I can't get my ass out of bed but, it's Wendy really. She looks forward to sleeping in a bit at least once a week. Can't blame her as she is my sponsor.

It twas a lot of fun and I'm pretty sun burnt. Just got home.

Many thanks to all the Durham Region Boaters for the great time and BBQ. Good burgers, salad etc..

Choppy conditions but, the 40" Q-mono handled it just fine. Later I tried a 60mm HK CNC prop, whoa, that was fast. Hit a wave and the prop torque sent my boat in the air spinning but, came down paws first... Next, get my IMPBA so I can test at Alliston for Junes big race in MI.

Hi Livewire, you have a Genesis I see, I just bought Genensis 41 inch complete with 4x 4.5 nano techs, HK controller and reciever, m 442 prop, 180 turnigy marine ecs, 3/16 flex shaft, stand and some spare original parts on ebay last night. The fello is saying the motor needs to b upgraded. What motor would you put in it to suit? I also have a pile of ZIPPY Flightmax 4000mAh 4S1P 20C batteries for my Apparition that I could swap back and fourth if it makes sense. Your thoughts please..... Thankyou

Hi Prtcleman,
Actually I don't own a Genesis, the boat is an HPR 115. The first question you need to answer, is how fast do you want this boat to be? Also what sort of FE experience do you have? In terms of your Zippy 20c packs, the c rating is pretty low. If you plan to run your Apparition as a sport boat and run it with a mild setup they may be ok. But if you are looking to run it as a fast hot setup, those batteries won't be up for the task. Personally I wouldn't use batteries lower then 50c. Dinogy has some great batteries with a 65c rating, you can find the thread here on OSE. Mark the owner is great and his prices are great as well. I'm currently testing a pair of Turnigy Nano A-Spec G2 batteries from Hobby King, and they seem to be holding up pretty well.
But my first choice would be the Dinogys.

Hello Everyone,

Just got into the hobby this year. Picked up an Atomik Barb Wire for bashing around and a Traxxas Spartan for high speed runs (ordered a bunch of parts to upgrade the Spartan, cant wait). I also fly an E-Flite Apprentice with floats.

I live in Oakville, but mostly just play around at my cottage in Bobcaygeon. That Osprey Marsh area looks a decent size from Google maps, I think I'll have to check it out!

Proboat and Aquacraft will most likely come out with some new stuff if you want to wait. Waiting until after the Chinese New Year will give you the view of what is to offer new off the chopping block. I think TFL hobbies the makers of the Pursuit Mono etc... may come out with a new cat that hopefully will have the ability to turn at higher speeds the the long narrow Scale'ish cats out there. Just save your money as our season is almost over this year. Watch the new posts here and we'll get you tricked out with something fine I'm sure.

I want a high speed cat next (no official racing, just fast runs on the lake). Still researching and figuring out what my budget is and how crazy to go.

Entry level RTR: I like the Proboat Blackjack 29 (upgrade motor and ESC to most likely a leopard/seaking combo)
Mid-level ARTR: I like the Appartition or Genesis (slap in a TP or NEU motor with swordfish esc)
High-level kits: I like too many - Shocker, Fantasm, Zonda, etc.
Extreme dream build SAW: HPR 115 bulletproof built buy customcf (nata2run) with dual LMT motors and the whole nine yards.
