I have tried a few different props on my boat. I am applying what I know from my real boat setup bag o tricks and what I read on fe forums and from past RC boats. So far I have Ben doing most and all my prop testing on 4s. on 6s my hull is a handful and tends to blow over way to easy. So I decided to dial it in on 4s and move to 6s when I'm happy. I have a feeling my ideal 4s prop and set up will differ from my 6s setup.
when I'm trying a prop I take the boat out run it adjust the strut to suite the conditions go back out. And adjust more if I have to.

1.The stock proboat prop out of the box yuck. It blows out on the start and in turns real bad un sharpened and un balanced to get a base line.

2. Proboat stock sharpened and balanced and detounged with the tips cupped over a bearing just a little bit. It is a rocket out of the hole and works well out of the turns but it killed my top speed 3 to 4 mph. The hull appears to want to lift the bow to much on booth proboat props. I'm guessing the proboat props are a form of a bow lift prop

3. Aquacraft grim racer 42 55 s&b this prop is faster out of the hole to top end but it has a lot of bow lift and the hull wants to blow over

4. Octura x642 this seams to be the best prop I've had on my hull the bow stays down and it's a rocket out of the hole. I have not had GPS in my hull yet with this prop.

I'm looking for other props to try. the m445 is one I'm looking to try.
I have a few questions as well 1 do water conditions like hard/soft water affect propping a RC boat. 2 does water temp affect proping does it allow more prop load ie a bigger prop or more pitch.

Are you running some negative angle using the strut mod?

You can swing a pretty big prop on the 1800 KV motor I use a m445 and like it for racing if temps allow if running to hot try a x442 I am doing prop testing and I'm trying a x440 x 3 blade ran this once and it was fast but I had to leave for home but it seemed fine.
If water temps are warm be prepared to prop down as to water hardness idk

I do run negative angle and have tried flat and up angle I go with what works bets with the conditions I'm running in

As I told a friend who runs with me. The key to Thea's boats is in the proping! On my hydrostream Valero YT one 27 pitch prop was a turd but change to a different 27 pitch and it was a night and day change!

X642 and M445 are popular props for this boat on 4S. Note the hub length on the M445 is a bit long, so you might have to muck around with the drive dog position to make it fit.

What props are being used on 6s

I got a m445 to work on the stock shaft barely, put blue loctite on the nut and it held for 6-7 runs...then I upgraded cables! Hahaha but it was still on the shaft REALLY tight when I took it off!

If you are using the 1800kv motor I would not run 6S at all. If you run the 1500 motor with stock 80A esc, then I would try try x440 (conservative), x442 (but test the temps). If you upgrade the ESC to a 180A then you could try the x642/m445.

If 1800kv on 5S, then you can try the same prop config as above (1800 on 5S = 1500 on 6S RPMs = 33.3K)

However I generally recommend anyone who wants to run 6S to upgrade the ESC to get the headroom-- an ill timed hop can spike the amps and blow the stock ESC.

I run the 1500 kv Miss Geico motor in my BJ 29 on 6s with the stock 80 amp esc. I'm turning a thinned, sharpened and balanced X442. I'm still messing with my strut height and angle, but the x442 is a sweet prop! Its a rocket out of the hole and runs great on plane. The hopping is nearly gone at 60-70% throttle, and it has transformed my boat from OK to damn good. The 1800 kv motor is entirely unsuitable for 6s, I don't care what the folks at Pro Boat might say to convince us otherwise.

If you want to run 6s, a 1500 kv motor is your best bet.

Also, +1 on Chiefs suggestion to upgrade the 80 amp esc for 6s. My plans are to upgrade to a Sea King 180 amp unit when my factory 6s/ 80 amp esc grenades, or if I want to swing a bigger prop.

So would I be right in assuming I can just upgrade to a 180a esc in my mg29v2 and keep the standard 1500kv motor and run 6s?

You have assumed correctly! The 1500 kv Miss Geico motor will draw WAY less amps than a 180 amp esc is capable of delivering. The result is a powerful esc that wont be worked very hard. Also, you'll have an esc that is ready to accept a more powerful motor down the road if you choose to upgrade.
