Andy I put this in Off Topic but it is really On Topic. On the topic of your a$$ kicking in Queensland next year that is. You have already seen this picture that shows my predicted outcome of the race....

and you have seen my battle flag....

Since then you have insulted my beloved Football Club....

https://console.clubsonline.com.au/shopproducts/images/main/flag_smMain.jpg

and you have started to call me while I am sleeping and asking me if I need to go to the bathroom. Mate, make no mistake, I am making this NS3 bulletproof before the race and I have nerves of Carbon Fiber so all your psychological intimidation will not affect the outcome. I suggest you spend your time trying to make that DF 33 go faster and learn how to avoid object such as sticks and rocks in the water (get some glasses). I am ready for you dude....

I will be there next year and will have open 4s mono, restricted 4s mono , open 4s hydro and restricted 4s hydro. Mate I will put all these boats on the line and puplicly state that you will NOT beat me in any class!!!! Hows that for fighting words old mate!! The boats on the list are DF 33" open 4s mono, Wild Thing 31" restricted 4s mono, XS2 restricted 4s hydro and a Whiplash open 4s hydro. I do not think your dingies will even get past scruttenering, with all the holes and corn flour paste holding them together you are a danger to spectators and other competitors for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

Andy, Andy, Andy you make me laugh. You told me on the phone that the Wild Thing was going to be your daughter's boat. You are going to challenge me with your daughter's boat? Mate I do not know what you are smoking but you are on something good. My boats are not kids boats. I suggest you look at the picture below and make sure your kiddies boat has all these parts on the transom (the transom is at the back of the boat Andy).....

Next take it out of the bath and practice with it on a lake. I am not racing you in your bath. In Queensland they race out on a real lake. Mate we are not racing icy pole sticks down a gutter after a rain now. This is serious business where spectators are guaranteed to get wet from my rooster tail and that is the only danger they will be in.

Hey Dirty Andy is the funny one.
Last summer Andy was having a boating problem. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get his Wild Thing to perform. It wouldn't plane at all, and it was very sluggish in almost every maneuver, no matter how much power was applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go he asked me if I could see what was wrong. I lifted it from the water and found his boat stand still strapped securely to the hull. :w00t:
This is a true story Dirty.

Danny you will not believe this but Andy still had his battery charger connected and had a 30 meter (100 feet) AC mains chord running out to the boat in the water. I could have been fried but I did not notice the chord until I lifted the boat from the water. Come to think of it frying me might have been his plan. He did say he would use force to win this race.

:flashfire: <------ Paddy fried

To set the record straight I have never mett Paddy and I am in NO way resbonsible for his opinion's or coments. Paddy you just have tooo much time on your hands, time better spent building, running, racing or just plain admiring your boats. Oh sorry I forget that NO ONE down in Tassy wants to play with you so just ignore the racing part old fella. WANKERS, WANKERS, WANKERS!! It does not matter where you are the world is full of them!!! Paddy I heard a nasty rumour you were arrestted in the ladies change room at KMart fighting a young lady for the latest pink G-String? Is this true???? You will all be glad to know that I now have a 1000mtr extension chord, a 500 amp esc and a 3000kv 400 amp motor on 240 volt spinning a x670 prop on my DF33 and have finaly topped the 50mph mark!! I think that when I remove the boat stand I just mite get to 60mph!!! I have noticed that all the ducks are burning on the lake, kind of like spontanious combustion!! Go figure. The local tree huggers think that as it only happens when my boat is plugged in that I am responsible. Fortunatly for me they had an emergecy call from Tassy with some bugger running the native wild life over with a SLOW xs2 whilst wearing a pink G-String singing a song about loving one's sister. I thought of Paddy but surley not.

The K-Mart thing is only partially true. I was just trying to help her put it on, not steal it. I told her the latest way to wear them was back to front because they look better that way. You know what blondes are like. Anyway I knew the policewomen (my sister and my cousin) so I was lucky and they let me go.

Andy, I thought it was time for a bit of an update. People have been talking about the colors red and blue a lot lately. The only colors you need to worry about are Red, White and Black. Yes St. Kilda will kill your Crows.

I noticed Taylor is having trouble with too many PM's. I guess it is those webcam girls after him since they seen his suntan.

Simon had a bad day at the pond which brings us to an embarrassing subject. Mate you know how I made fun of you hitting a submerged log? Well today I hit an island the size of a football field.
When you get back off the floor and stop laughing I will continue.
The first thing I seen was feathers (a lady said I hit a duck) and then my boat is sitting in the reeds on the shore of the island. After paddling out with my rubber duck to get the boat I had attracted a small gathering of people to see if the boat was damaged. My face was traffic light red as I explained that it was the ducks fault.
I think I will get some new spectacles before Brisbane next year.

Andy it was the NS3 that used the duck as a skii jump and landed on the island. I guess with the extra speed of the 5s my old eyes need to go back into SAW mode to keep up with the boat. I can not wait to put the 1527 in it and see what happens :bounce:

Time for another update Andy.
I think you must have given money to Raydee's Pond Monster to come and interrupt my busy training schedule.
Today I was testing two of my boats. The NS 3 broke a prop shaft and I lost my favourite M545 prop and my DumbAss Hawk (why do you call it that?) shredded a Graupner prop. The good thing is the Hawk was showing 106 on the gps and that is two times in a row it has shown me that. I need a bigger lake for that boat so I can see what it will do but I will wait for the V947/3 to come as that has to be a better prop than a Graupner 48mm.

Mate do you know how fast water can fill an NS 3 when there is no prop shaft in the stuffing tube? You should have seen me and the rubber duck going as fast as we could across that pond. The local TV station sent me the picture below.

1. Andy to measure speed we use the ffs system in Tasmania. That is football fields per second.
2. The shaft broke as it enters the stuffing tube so I will take the blame for that.

Officer drank 18 beers, reported for duty
Ended up knocked out after fight
Not disciplined, but promoted

A POLICE officer who admitted to drinking at least 18 beers before going on duty to carry out a breath test has not been disciplined.

Senior Constable Andy M****** has been promoted, despite telling a court last month about a wild night in the New South Wales town of Broken Hill that ended with him knocked unconscious after trying to arrest a woman.

Sen-Constable M****** was at the Broken Hill Hotel about 10pm on May 14, 2008, when asked by colleagues to carry out a breath test.

After the test he drank two rums at the Broken Hill Hotel and about 12.45am declared himself on duty to arrest local woman Bertha Butt, who he says spat on him, sparking a fight that ended in Sen-Constable M****** being flown to a Sydney Hospital for treatment.

Three people pleaded guilty to charges over the incident but five others fought the charges, which were dropped last month when a judge ruled Sen-Constable M****** evidence unreliable.

A police spokesman said the matter was being reviewed but "at this time the New South Wales Police Service has not received any complaint about the matter".

A police spokesman said Police Commissioner Bob Down and Andy M****** were unavailable for comment

You really are one of the services finest Andy.

Andy, I just got me a new houseboat. As you can see we can go upstairs and use it as an offshore drivers stand for boat racing. The big red box is a giant esky for our beer. It comes with an officials table (near the esky) for the organizers of the races. When we race we can use downstairs as a clubroom. The guys are going to love this. When it is windy and rough in one area we can move our club facilities to a calmer location.:banana:

Ouch, have replied in a PM, that looks dramatic!!!! Now the disposal method needs to be discussed. I have done this in the past , have a bucket of very salty water at hand as this nutrilisese the chemicals in a lipo. Now pull the pack apart carefuly and puncture each cell with a sharp peice of timber and place imediatly in the salt water. It will bubble a bit but if you leave for a while, I left overnight. The packs are now inert and can not hurt anyone. I know it sounds extreme but it does work.
DO NOT THROW IN THE RUBISH BIN until the packs are safe.

Andy,
At the risk of spoiling my reputation as the Forum idiot I am going to write something sensible. You might remember I told you on the phone that I have been experimenting with a battery warmer. Instead of just keeping it to ourselves I thought I would share the results on OSE incase others need a cheap battery warmer.
First some pictures of the equipment involved.....

1. A $29 Tandy car warmer/cooler

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3189/2983332596_628c10ba88_o.jpg

2. A $70 Jump Starter so that you can take the warmer to the waters edge with you warm packs

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3241/2983332852_df64d6107f_o.jpg

3. A view of the inside. I guess you could put 6 Lipo packs inside.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3216/2982476195_0cc5a165eb_o.jpg

Now the test results of the inside temperature....
At start 19 C
After 5 minutes 23 C
After 10 minutes 29 C
After 15 minutes 35 C
After 20 minutes 38 C
After 40 minutes 40 C
As you can see it is just the temperature we want and is close to it after just 15 minutes on the 12 volt source.
On the way home you can use it to cool your drink cans. It is portable, cheap and much more useful than an ashtray on a motorbike or a hole in a pair of underpants..

Paddy that is great, I have been so excited I decided to try my little 12l Engel cooler/warmer. After 25min it came out to 43 deg celcius. Perfect. At the moment though with the day time temps in the high 30's and summer just around the corner where the day time temps spend weeks over 45 deg celcius will keep this on call for winter. Winters do get down to freezing in the desert!
I must say that pre warmed Li-Po's are the way to go. It lowers the internal resistance dramaticly and helps them servive high amp applications. People new to lipo batteries should understand that a starting temp of 100-125 deg F is a good way to go.
Enough of this type of testing how about a little word on the xs3, the xs2 Liquid Insanity and that other xs2? I feel that people on this site would be very interseted at how a Feigao powered rigger runs in race trim at 100 kph on 4s and how fast the saw rigger's you are running are going.
Hows that for a serious reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No stupidity any where, Paddy NO one will read this unless we are taking the piss!!!!

Chuck (pink out of respect for FEMBOT memebers).....
My problems is I can not get my dash to the water so I needed something portable that can keep packs warm for a few hours. Both items have a dual use. I work as a security guard in a college and I am often asked to help start cars with flat batteries. The Jump Starter is a lot better than pushing cars. You can also use it as a light to find your beer at night. New Zealanders use them to inflate their blow up sheep. The battery warmer becomes a cooler on the way home from the pond. I use it to cool a different kind of six pack for the trip home. Andy makes a little moonshine and sends me some cans for Xmas every year.

Douggie....
A brain is not a requirement to be a Tasmanian. If you can fix your car with fencing wire you just got yourself a Tasmanian visa.

Andy,
I finished the last part of the test on the Lipo warmer today.
At 1 hour the packs were at 90 F and after 2 hours they were at a nice 110 F.
I think that I will start warming the packs about 30 minutes before I leave home and then they will be at 90 F for the first boat and successive packs for my other boats will only be closer to the temperature mark.
I have a question. If I start with the pack at 110 F will it get too hot after a few minutes of running? My boats never run the packs higher than 125 F but I have been starting at normal air temperature.

BTW... it is back to madness and mayhem, rape and pillage after these moments of sanity.:banana::banana:

andym

Paddy because the internal resistance is lower when the packs are warm you will probably see cooler temps slightly. When you ask a high amp draw from a cold pack is when temps can get out of control or if you are like me and ask them to operate outside their safe paramiters.
Cheers
Have to get back to fibre glassing the nose and first 5" of seem on the DF33 now, stuffed her at approx 55mph and the bottom of the pond was harder then the boat.

First off mate that is Tassy at her best, what a lovely spot. SAW runs are normaly done over a timed 100mtr pass, with the acceleration of your boat a 60mtr run upto full noise then the 100mtr or so and 60+ mtr to slow and turn to do it the other way would be ample. The distance between the island and the bank looks tight and you will need her on coarse to pass this well before you get there but it looks easy enough. As far as having three people there I think you can do it yourself OK but a spotter would be adventagious. Now the F***ing ducks, take that little tug boat the NS3 and run the bastard things over. Do not just scare them, cull them. June makes a great crispy skin duck i hear so no one will find any evidence. I can always get the riot gun out and bring some of the trainee police down there for target pratice too. I know of the larger lake about 1 hr away where they ski, perhaps an early morning assult on there would be less of a risk to the xs3? Good luck and will catch up soon

Do not worry Paddy. The Canadians will come to your rescue, as we have lots of water. At your command we can send over a tanker laiden with water. Price is $10.00 a gallon plus shipping costs, as this water would normally have gone to a water bottling plant. The Canucks are the new Arabs of this century!!

Douggie

Douggie we have the same thing here. Water is more expensive than fuel for our cars. Actually fuel for the cars has had a big drop in price but water just keeps going up. Considering it falls out of the sky, and has very little to no processing before it is sold, I find this amazing. I laughed when I first heard that they were selling water in bottles in the U.S.A, but now we are doing it too. In fact it is a fashion statement for office girls. You see them walking the streets at lunch time with their little sucky bottles of water. If people keep drinking it we will have none left for our boats. Why can't they drink alcohol like us older people? They would have more fun in their office in the afternoon if they did.

To you guys that have been working on the computer program with me,
I am posting these two pictures of our program to explain the differences. I guess by now you know the first program so not a lot of need to explain that one.
As you can see with the second program there is a navigation bar at the top so you can go to the topic that you are after easily. There is also a minimize button you can click on to put the program on your bottom toolbar. Because of the new navigation process it has made more room in the program for more information and more pictures. The SAVE button for your Race Dates and Boat Setup now both work. I think that you will find it much easier to navigate in and the minimize feature will be handy so you can have the program open and check back on OSE forum to see the latest updates
Randy if you happen to read this there will be a copy on CD in the mail for you soon. Just put the CD in your CD player and it will auto install like any other software. I hope you are feeling better.
Thanks for your help guys.

Beta testers I have updated the newer version of the model boat computer program. Download directions are below....

Freedrive download instructions...
Go to http://www.freedrive.com/
type iamto@hotmail.com into the email address box
type qwerty123 into the password box
Then click on Sign In
This will log you in
Once you are in click on the My FreeDrive tab at the top. This will take you to where the file is.
Now click on the FEsetup2.exe and this will take you to the next page. Here you will see a blue arrow that points down. This is the download arrow. Click on it and it will ask you where you want to save it. Make sure you name it FEsetup2.exe as Freedrive just names it FEsetup and it will not open later unless you call it FEsetup2.exe. Now save it and after the download finishes find the file at the location where you saved it and double click on it. This will start the install process. If you have any problems let me know.

You will notice a picture of one of Douggies monos and some of Jans hydro pictures have been added. A small write up about 1P and 2P added also.

Anyone else that wants to try it go ahead

Have fun.

Andy it is not often I post something serious on this thread but today I will.
As you know I have been trying to get a boat with a Chinese motor to do 60 mph and this morning I did that.
Here is the setup......

Xzess 2 rigger, 4s Lipo, Feigao 6XL, X642 prop and Barra 120 esc

Speed was 62.75 mph. Not a world record I know but it is a personal best. The best part was the temps. Motor was 124 F and all the other temps were lower than that. I only done 4 two way runs and let is rest for 2 minutes between runs so I guess that helped with temps. That was your old boat (Liquid Insanity).

Well I guess I have to set the bar a little higher now and aim for 65 mph.

Thanks for all the help you have been in assisting me to achieve this goal

Way to go Paddy!

Thanks Chuck,
I have learned a lot in the last few months. At first I was just throwing money at boats to try to make them go fast eg. big batteries and big expensive motors. Now I love 4s and 5s batteries and I am starting to see how fast these cheap motors can go. I think I must try an ETTI esc soon and see how they hold up under the torture I will give them.
Do not get me wrong, my Barra esc's and Neu motors have taken a lot of punishment and I really do not know how I have not blown up more CC esc's. I can only say good things about the old Barracuda esc's.

Andy another best speed with the Chinese experiment this morning.

104 kph or 64.62 mph.

Xzess 2 rigger, 4s Lipo, Feigao 6XL, X642 prop and Barra 120 esc
Same setup as before but a shorter turn fin. Actually even though it does not turn as well it is easier to control and does not want to flip as much. Last time I said I would raise the bar to 65 mph. Almost there dude.

Mr. Krabs has a 1521 1D spinning a M545 and has only done 108 kph and that part makes me want to cry. Something major wrong there.

Andy,
As you know I got myself an R/C electric glider last week and I took it flying for the first time today. Not being a member of a club I thought I would do the good old Aussie thing and jump a farmer's fence and fly in his field. It was a little windy but I knew I could fly in winds like that so I gave it a little throttle and a big push into the air and soon it was climbing nicely. After about 5 minutes I thought I would land it as the wind started to get stronger. Mate you would have been proud of the landing. You had to see it to believe it but as luck would have it I managed to get a picture so you can see....

That is the glider parked up there in amongst all the Koalas and leaves. Not everyone can do that mate...
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3195/3149837248_ce0b007b6e_o.jpg

Having landed it there I thought the only way I have to get it out is to fly it out so I gave it some revs and it starts to climb nicely but then a branch and the prop had a coming together and now this is the only thing I have of my plane

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3196/3149004621_b84585fe99_o.jpg

The good part is I have the most important part and just need to buy a glider to put on it. Mate could you do a good S&B job on that prop for me while I wait for my new parts (glider) to arrive.

Now comes the bad part. I was walking to my car when all of a sudden I hear BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG and I look around to see the farmer shooting at me with his rifle. Well I cleared that gate by about three feet and got in my car real quick. I started the engine and then BANG, BANG, BANG. The idiot is shooting my car as you can see by the bullet marks in the driver's side door....

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3236/3149004835_ee958498a8_o.jpg

Andy as I said I have the important bit (the spinner) and all I have to do is buy the glider to put on it.

Talking of Heidi, while I was there tonight trying to get the glider 3 Deer came into the field not far from me. I got it on video and if they are close enough to be seen I will put it on You Tube. Most unusual for them to even let themselves be seen here in Tasmania as they find their heads hanging on a den walls somewhere if they do.

I have the solution my brother is on his way to to the land of sun, beer, nice sheilas, great beaches and lots of deserted spots for a 3 week holiday. His itineray includes, Perth, Melbourne, The Great Barrier Reef and you guessed it TASMANIA. I tried to persuade him that Canada was the spot to go to at this time of the year and he said Douggie " Jump in the lake, if you can find one that is not frozen"
So he leaves Scotland mid January and expects to be in Tasmania the first week of Febuary.

Here is the plan wee Dave (my brother) is an accountant (Very Boring) and will meet up Mel. Dolly and Andy
Wee Dave will wear my full regalia....Kilt, wellies, gloves and a sporran with an emblem that states F..K the English. Mel will wear a Jesuit priests smock and rant in Hebrew. Andy will be dressed as cop with a hat that has an emblem that states all Poms are bast...s.
Andy, will exlpain to the farmer that we are looking for a suspected drug smuggler that uses toy gliders to smuggle his drugs....Sir, have you seen anyone that matches this description.
The farmer says " Yes but what does that have to with the motley crew you have with you"
Andy replies " evidence of the drug abuse and the consequences "
The farmer is shocked and points to the glider in the tree and assists in the retrieval of the glider.

NOW, WHAT HAPPENS TO THE GLIDER ????

The SAAB is only good for a boat stand at the moment. I am waiting for the mechanic to come back from his holiday to bolt a new Turbo on. I screwed the manual boost controller up to high to blow Volvos away (sorry Chuck) and a seal went in the Turbo. Cheaper to bolt a guaranteed used one on than to repair the old one. It is just a car to me.

Andy I took the NS 3 to the lake this morning and ran a smaller prop than last time. It was a little slower but the esc was cooler. Maybe I will water cool the esc and try the X642 and see how things go.
Setup this morning.... Neu 1512, 4S & X640.

That looks like it is going well. Please water cool that esc and then try the 42mm prop. I have found my mono's tend to go better with larger props with less pitch in this case like a m442, you could try a x440/3 as well. The boat looks like the ride is just about right and that little motor seems to suit it. What was the temps of motor and packs? How hot was that uncooled esc getting?

Andy the motor was 95, battery 128 and esc 145 and I like the esc cooler than that. I need to buy another Barracuda 120 or 180 or one of the new CC 240's so I can leave this esc water cooled. Always something to spend money on.

BTW that prop arrived and Mr. Krabs will test it in the morning. Nice cupping job. A very nice looking prop. Your best work yet I think.

Andy I took Mr. Krabs and my NS 3 out this morning. That prop you cupped is magic. I thought it would push the motor out the front of the boat it accelerates so hard. Only got to try it on a cold battery as for some reason it got water on the receiver and that was that but it was showing 104 kph and not full throttle on a cold battery. I have never had it go past 97 on a cold battery before and there was still a little throttle left. It was like I was driving a different boat. I really think big things are coming for Mr. Krabs. It is a bit of a fish that got away story but this time Mr. Krabs excited me.

I put the Data Logger in the NS3. You can see the picture below. You were close when you said 140 amps. As you can see max amps was 143.90 amps. That is on the Barra 120. Me thinks some smoke could come out if I push it much harder and once the smoke comes out they stop running . That was on the X640 and 1512 motor. Put your thinking cap on and we will talk more about it over a Scotch on the phone.

Paddy I am glad that prop works well, a happy ending to a mad experiment! Those 140 amps look strange all peaks and no long runs. Where you on and off the throttle a lot? One of those ETI 150 race esc'c would fit the bill. Everyone is saying they are a strong underrated esc. I would try a detounged x442 a little less pitch but with the extra couple of mm in diam it will hook up a bit better. That motor realy is a 26-30" hydro motor though.

Andy this conversation would have been much more fun over the phone, sucking on a Scotch and telling Douggie jokes. LOL
As far as all peaks and no long runs goes it may be the way I set it up on the software. I will go back and check my settings when I have time. Anyway peaks is what we want to know about. I think it is ok as long as I water cool the esc and keep the runtime down a bit. That Barra just keeps saying "give me your best shot" and takes it on the chin but even a champ can be knocked to the ground by a Tasmanian and a shotgun.
Agree with you about the ETTI 150. It would be better to have a dedicated esc for this boat. I will order a few props at the same time and ask Steven V to send the props to your door. The motor is doing fine in the mono and is running cool. Tasmanian water is colder than your water by about 20 degrees.
I got that motor that Heath was selling. Thanks for your help in that deal. I laughed until I cried when I read your comments on Heaths thread. We really are a pair of *&%$#%$ arent we? I hope to be able to test the Xs2 with that motor by this time next week. I will start with an X640 first I think.
I am drying everything in Mr. Krabs. Just the top 1/3 of the sponsons were sticking out of the water so as you can imagine all the electrics were soaked. I gave it a quick run (on the kitchen table) this morning and everything still works but I am giving it more sun time to make sure it is dry. I will have to track down why the water got in the hull. That boat always comes in dry so something must have happened somewhere.
I will go and clean the Glock up for tonights fun.

Douggie I have been talking to the farmer concerned in the Paddy shooting. He has promised me to practice alot more so next time he will not miss the prick! He tells me that he sent the parts back as an evil plan to make Paddy the bastard plane freak think he is welcome and then BANG he is going to pop a few rounds into him. Recons it will serve him right for flying instead of boating.
Now this is what old farmer Joe told me I can not state publicly that I agree or disagree with his fine well thought out plan.

Geez Andy, I have given you my old sports car, my ex wife and several of my children and this is all the thanks I get. Time to call Chopper I think.
