The last time I took my boat out to the lake she was running fast. I had just installed a Leopard 4074 1800kv motor with a Seaking 180a esc and my new S/B M645 prop. earlier in the day it ran 57.5mph on the gps. I was sure that this setup would have put me in the 60mph range on 6s but didn't. So I changed my timing from 15.00 to 18.75 and it just about blew the hatch off when it went! The boat was just out of reach and all I could do was watch as the thick magic smoke spewed out of boat. I now had a black sticky and stinky mess inside my hull. The esc was completely incinerated but other than some discoloration and the smell the hull was fine. I found that Simple green and acetone works awesome at cleaning up the mess. while I had the boat stripped I put down an extra layer of 1oz cloth and epoxied all the wood to seal it back up. Then comes the paint! I had the idea for a few weeks but was too lazy to do it till now. My prep work and masking were good but I let the paint dry to much before pulling the tape off so my lines aren't as clean as I would like. Now all I have to do is wait for my new esc to arrive and back to the lake to try it again!

This is another boat I painted for my daughter and she's been tossing that little boat around for about a year now it still looks great!

still hanging that 4082 on the stock motor mount?

would not trust that for a second , but that's me :-)

Well I was going to change the motor mount but it seems to be doing well it's only a 4074 motor. Before she went up in smoke I was jumping boat wakes and had a few realy impressive crashes and the stock motor mount was still solid. This boat was realy well built IMHO. However I layered glass cloth over the wood part of the mount just to make it more better. Also can't see but I glassed In the hole for the water outlet and plan to relocate it so I can play with putting batteries on the sides of the hull to see how it can change the handling characteristics.

i just don't think it is a good idea to hang a motor of that size/weight only by the front ,not supporting it at the back
the weight and lenght of that motor is going to create some stress in the motorcan and bearings when it's only hanging at the front

they sell aditional supports that clamb the motor at the end and remove the stress

sorry for my english

Thanks for your concern! I have a few of those rear supports that might be a good idea to use but it doesn't seem worth the time and effort I would have to put into figuring how to use them without completely gutting my boat. the stock mount is very solid, This boat was built to handle a motor this big with no modifications and with the extra glass work I have done really beefed it up even further. As for the motor can and bearings?...The 4074 is a standard 1/8 scale brushless motor can and none of the cars or trucks use a rear support, so I don't see it hurting the motor to be mounted by only the front. It just helps spread the weight over a larger area in boat hulls. However, I crash my boat every time I run it so I will let you know if becomes necessary to install the rear mount. I also saw your thread about timing.... I ran 15.00 on 6s with this 1800kv motor but that is really pushing it any higher and POOF! I think from now on I will go with 11.25 just so I don't have to buy any more esc's.

Thanks! the deep candy metallic red really come alive in the sunlight! I wish the pictures showed it better. This is what paint it is. It really lays down well and is very durable like I said that little traxxas blast that I gave my little girl has been thrown around by a two year old for about a year now and still looks good!
