hey guys,just thought id ask if anyone has had any experiences with this boat.i havnt seen too many posts or articles on it.it looks like a fun piece for the price.im thinking about grabbing one for my gf's son for a grad present.any thoughts on speed,fun factor,run times would be appreciated.thanks in advance.

I have it - and it's a ton of fun right out of the box. It's easy 30+ mph on 3s lipo (biggest you can use).
Just get an extra prop or two.

I feel like if I'm not going 100% wide open, i have 10+ minutes with my 4000 or 5000 Mah packs.

thanks for the reply.i was starting to wonder if either anyone had this boat,or they don't read these forums...lol.i saw a couple vids of this boat and for what it is,it seems to work very well,even on nihm,s,which is what he will be using.what prop do you recommend for this boat as I have a couple of sharpened and balanced Octura's.

A new prop is actually my next move. I broke my stock one this weekend when I accidentally hit my (real) boat's boat lift.

Trying to figure out exactly what size my prop shaft is and stuff now. Looks like the stock prop is 1.6" x 2.5" - so I'm looking at one of the CNC props in similar size.


When I do figure out what i'm ordering, i'll post it.

I just got one and I think it's a great boat for what it has to offer. I've own a few boats (slower, faster, smaller, bigger) and here's a sum of what I like about it.
1) Durable that you can bang it against the wall without worry.
2) Not too big that you can carry it with one hand when transporting.
3) Long run times with 2s
4) nimh, lipos, 2s or 3s.

I just got back from a short run at sunset. 2S 40C 5000mah Gforce lipo for 15 minutes with various speeds, stopping, having conversations with people around, and had temps of 71 for esc, 72.5 for lipo, and 75 for the motor. Cells came in 3.8 on each cell.

i have a silly question.this boat has an ec3 connector,my batteries have traxxas female.will i need a traxxas male to ec3 female? not familiar with ec3 connectors.thanks

My IM-31(v1) came with that size prop in stainless, I had it listed in the swap shop along with other take off parts I don't need, didn't go anywhere.

As far as the CNC props, I have - x438, x440, x442, x443 in my prop can, all are new. The x440 is slightly smaller & the x442 is slightly larger in diameter than the 1.6"(40.6mm) x 2.5" props. I'm talking about putting one prop next to the other and doing a visual comparison, not math or prop charts.

Since your boat comes with a 1500Kv motor I would suggest giving the x440 a try first. Please note that all those props are 3/16" bore. If your shaft size is 1/8", you can make an adapter following these instructions... http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/info-pages/fit-propellers.php - very easy to do, I've made a bunch of them - the boat I use those props on has a 1/8" flex shaft.


To BigCam... if all your batts have Trax connectors, I would suggest replacing the EC3 connector on your ESC with a Trax male.

Adapters cause too much resistance which is not a good thing. Only thing adapters are good for is charging, if your charger doesn't have the right type of connector.

I started out with R/C trucks - all are Traxxas; so like you I switched all my batts (that didn't come with Trax) over to Trax connecters.

When I got into R/C boats it just made since to replace the stock ESC connectors with Trax.

is there a reason they changed the connectors to EC3's? are they better than Deans? just wondering.also,i just noticed Horizon dropped the price down 60 bucks to $219.hell of a deal IMO.
